Joe, I've camped at Turkey Run. Nice park. And, yeah, I've had those "still in college" dreams -- usually I have forgotten an entire class all semester and now it's too late to do anything about it. Rose-scented shampoo sounds nice. Hope your day today is better/smoother than Friday.
Stars, I'm so sorry your weekend was generally crappy. I second the idea of a magic wand to make things better.
Goodness, TMB, I hope you don't have to evacuate.
dianah, I'm hoping the dog is doing better and it isn't a chronic illness that you'll have to deal with.
We had a cool front and some rain come though. The current temp is 86, whereas it was over 100 for several days in a row before today. It's so freaking cold in the hospital, though, that I took a walk outside just to warm up.
My weekend was incredibly unproductive. I did make a peach cake recipe that sounded good when I read it. It wasn't bad, but the brown sugar frosting didn't really go well with the cake. There's a potluck after church next Sunday and I was hoping this would be a recipe that I would want to take. I guess not. Our pastor was reassigned to another church in eastern OK and I am sad about that. I will miss her. So this Sunday is her last one with us. I'm flying to Vermont later that afternoon but want to go to the service and the meal.
Also managed to get through the rest of my clothes that were packed away for the heat treatment. And finished the book I was reading. Hubs may be a little frustrated with my lack of productivity.
Hello all!
We heard back from the vet (VM), he will be back in town for a Thursday appt. Dog (chihuahua/pomeranian mix), 9 yr old, still coughs intermittantly, but doesn't seem to be a severe as the first, sudden, onset. So we are not on pins and needles, and not in a crisis situation, but we are still concerned and will take him in to be seen on Thurs.
Dryer repairman scheduled to be here between 1 and 5 (it is now 2:20).
Ado, you got SOME things done, at least. No judgment here. ?
Hope your day goes smoothly!
Yowie-zowie, Last night I stood up from the sofa, and instead of pausing for a moment to make sure I had my balance, I jumped up and stepped forward, bumping my toe against the stupid cheap rug where it has skidded and sort of folded up, looking like a wave coming onto the beach....and I was on the floor before I even knew I was falling. It twisted my left knee (the 'not good' knee), which does not feel so good today. I am icing and elevating it right now. Will also do a warm pack and alternate the warm and cold like I'm supposed to.
I just got back from having the lidocaine-prednisone shot in my left hip. The PA said if my knee isn't better in 2 weeks she will send me over to the doc who will put one of those shots in my knee, and she said she can also shoot my left shoulder since that shot only has worked partially. Plus I have to wait two weeks from any of those shots before I get my 2nd Shingles vaccine; but I have until October to get the 2nd vaccine, so no problem there.

5:20 PM Hubby was on the phone with the fraud dept of the bank about the charge on Nannie's credit card. It was just a cluster-eff all around. They had put a hold on the card, so then we couldn't even report the fraudulent charge or cancel the card, but it took SEVEN transfers to different depts, who kept transferring us to yet another dept, before hubby cussed them out. We decided to call the personal banker to make an appt for tomorrow, late morning ....but she was "either on another line or out of the office", so I sure hope they can help us out there tomorrow. Hubby had to give his POA info on the phone to 3 different people, and when they said we had to do that yet again, that was when hubby short-circuited.
We are under a severe thunderstorm warning /, tornado warning so I will post this in case we lose power. Will be back later ----
G'day!
Ouch Stars. I can understand your husbands frustrations. I've been a victim of credit card theft, twice so I understand. But to have it have to Nannie would be an even worse situation as she can't handle it herself.
Going to take Slowbro to the vet in a few after I eat. He looks like he has a dental abscess. He's eating okay and seems to be feeling well. Got very agitated when I tried to examine him.
Hi. I'm enjoying the afternoon warmth at our Airbnb, just outside of Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park. We got a later than expected departure this morning. Dh had a doctor appointment but the doc sent his new RX for BP to Costco, instead of the local pharmacy. He only gets his insulin at Costco. So instead of having the RX transferred, he decided that ds and he needed to go in and change the name on the Costco card from me to him. He just couldn't wait until Friday to have me pick it up, or bother the pharmacist. It's better to change our travel plans than force Costco to leave his pills sit 3 days.
Good grief, stars, what a ridiculous bank. No one seems to understand customer service these days. At least not banks or health insurance companies.
I hope the dryer is fixed and running quietly now. And the pupper cough is mild.
Maybe SloBro had an abscess and it spontaneously ruptured and drained?
Peach cake sounds good, maybe just a caramel sauce instead of frosting.?
we are having frozen pizza for dinner. I don't want to eat out and I don't want to Cook. I'm going to keep relaxing and enjoy a glass of white wine.
Only got heavy rain, heavy winds, but NO tornado. I didn't think we would get one. And though 18,000 people lost power in this county, we didn't.
Started watching the ballgame, and then there was a rain delay of maybe an hour. The tarp has been rolled up now, so they can continue the game. Hopefully the Braves will get ahead of the Pirates; right now the score sits at 7-5 in Pirates favor. (boo!) Sixth inning will begin in just a minute.
I think (hope!) hubby will be going up to his bedroom pretty soon. Nannie isn't ready to go to bed yet, and that's okay with me, right now; however I will be going upstairs in about half an hour, so she will be in her bed before I go up!
Earlier I had to tell hubby to quit yelling at the TV (about the pitcher, the manager, etc, etc.) I said WE can hear him fine if he talks in a normal tone of voice, but no matter how loud he gets, they CAN'T hear him in Pittsburgh!
And on a completely different subject: just a question for y'all, for anybody who can tell me this: WHY does my throat feel more dry when I drink water?
Dryer running quietly now, yay! I got two loads of laundry going. Dog is definitely coughing less, bless his heart (we all know how uncomfortable and tiring frequent coughing bouts can be)!
Hope Slowbro doesn't have an abscess. I'd think he would be favoring it, and that it would be sensitive so he wouldn't be eating, if it were indeed an abscess???
No Stars, hope your knee and hip and shoulder are soon feeling better. GOOD, NO tornadoes!! Ugh, I dislike dealing w/banks. And especially dislike getting transferred several times! Hope perhaps tomorrow you can get things straightened out.
nursej22, enjoy your pizza, wine, and beautiful view!
I trimmed the basil this afternoon, and will chop some tomorrow and add it to the tomato-basil soup (Progresso). Then add a piece of toasted sourdough bread with cheddar melted on it = heaven!!
Have a good evening!

TMB I hope the fires don't get any closer
Dianah hope the cough proves something minor
NJ22 a trip to Mount Rainier sounds nice
Stars I'm glad he remained sober enough to have that discussion
Had a busy morning, started the crock pot chili before church, got it started early enough that I was able to do a little grocery shopping before church. After church did the dishes, and later once the rain had stopped went on a fairly long bike ride as it was fairly cool for a change
Family has been discussing a possible reunion next year. I think I'd prefer to wait until 2025 for the next one. Unless they decide to return to Turkey Run state park, were there a couple years ago and I liked it a lot
Speaking of travel has been a week and a half and I haven't heard from my cousin about Milwaukee. Will have to email her again and see when she wants to go and if she has any preferences on what to do
Will be another cooler day in the upper 70s, looks like we won't have rain as was expected
