Stars I saw some deer when I was bird watching last Saturday

Ado I understand why you'd want to  hold off on travel for a bit

NJ22 hope the smoke clears up

Dianah glad the rain held off for the first few days

Hi Tweety

Yesterday spent the time before church working on a side dish and a good bit of time after church doing the main dish.  Have to remember when making something complicated how long it can take.  Was at church a bit late with an evangelism committee meeting, thankfully we only have one more then we're done

Rest of the day was pretty ordinary.  Just exercised and ran some errands.  Still  emailing with family about a reunion next year, the discussion has been ongoing for 6 weeks without resolution.  People say they're interested but  we have yet to settle on a location or date, which makes me wonder if it'll be pushed back  to 2025

Today should be a fairly ordinary day at work.  Have Friday off which may complicate things a bit but hopefully not much

Will not be bad today, low 80s, although the 3 days after that will be close to 100

Good morning~

I'm up early to go to my Dr's appt. A few minutes ago hubby got up and asked me when I had to leave....I guessed correctly, that he needs to go to the liquor store. I told him he had enough time to go do his purchase. Otherwise he'd be edgy the whole time I am gone and anxious to know when I'd be getting back. ? But I am holding to my decision to NOT buy him any booze. Pretty sad way to live, having to have that vodka every day. But, not my problem.

I'll be back later---------

Hello all!

I guess we had a stormy night, but we didn't hear much of it, we were snug here.  A large sycamore branch fell down, but other than that and a lot of leaves, most of our (very small) yard is OK.  No more rain is forecast, in fact it should be clear and in the mid-90's most of the week.

I still need to bring in the refrigerated items from the RV, and wash the linens from our trip.  I was SO TIRED yesterday!   I was really sleepy on the drive home (about 2 hr), and after we got home and got most of our stuff unloaded from the RV, I took a nap.  Was still tired after getting up.  Dh and I have discussed that, going to a festival is still FUN, but we no longer jam till 2 and 3 in the morning!  We do expend a lot of energy visiting and jamming!!  LOL! We heard some GREAT musicians, and it was a privilege to hear them, so glad they were there!

When we were leaving, the campground area -- which is packed clay, in an old lake bed -- was already slick.  Dh drove the RV, and I followed him in the car, and I saw his wheels not getting much purchase.  It reminded me of driving on ice, which I don't have much experience with, but it was the only similar thing I could think of.  Come to think of it, I felt the car's tires slipping and sliding in the slick mud, as I followed him!  We are very glad we made it out when we did.  A lot of RVs and travel trailers stayed in the campground and will make their way home when the mud dries up.  One other time it rained (but not this hard/long) when we were there at a festival, once the sun came out, it took only an hour to dry up the clay.

Today will be a day for finishing unpacking, doing laundry, and getting the final supplies out of the RV.  We did note a leak in the skylight positioned over the shower area, so that will need to be re-sealed.  There may be other areas too, I haven't done a total assessment.

Have a good day!

G'day.

Joe, those are some hot days coming up for you.

Stars, hope all goes well with the MD appointment.

Dianah, glad things have passed.  Hope you feel rested.  I know you say you won't stay up jamming and socializing but I'll believe that when I see it.  LOL

Our storm season should be cranking up and lasting through November.  They are worried because the Gulf is so warm this year because of climate change and low rainfall.  I moved here 31 years ago in July and by August the first hurricane came nearby.  Not a big event here.  The worst was one I went to work and left my dogs behind with my neighbors and I vowed never to due that again because it was too stressful.  Another I lost power for about six days.  The last one was very nerve wracking because it was so slow and all day I listened to the wind howl and power transformers blow but miraculously kept my power that time.  I'm all stocked with candles, battery powered lights, and water.  Will just need to get some non-perishable food and ice closer to the storm.

While we've had one direct hit of a minor tropical storm a hurricane hasn't hit us directly since I've been here and not directly since the 20's.  Legend has it that the ancient Native American burial grounds protect us.  Since I've been here twice a major hurricane was barreling down on us and decided to turn South in final hours, including the last one that destroyed Fort Myers area.

Anyway, I've been up and cleaned the bathrooms and did a huge load of laundry and have had lunch.  Will head to the grocery store and gym soon.  Took a good nap already.

Have a good day!

Tweety, Hubby and I were in Sarasota for the BIG storm in 1993, staying w/ my mom. ALL night the wind, thunder, and lightning was constant. The metal-thingy over-hanging the door of the trailer got torn off by the wind, and flew end over end to the back yard, just missing my brand-new car. Whew! We went out to a beach the next day....it was closed until the wind speed went down to 70 mph. We walked out on the beach and could stand like this angle>  /    or maybe with a little more of a tilt, in the wind. Wild! Trees down, some flooding of yards, but roads weren't flooded.

Yeah, dianah, when I read that the 'high desert' was going to get lots of rain, I thought of you guys. Glad you got out of there on time. Slippery mud is probably just as bad as icey and snowy roads; scary!

I had an x-ray at doc's office (their xray machine had been broken for 2-3 years, but they finally got it fixed, so I didn't have to drive across town to get an xray. The doc said it was a medial meniscus tear, but since it was 2 + 1/2 weeks since I did it, and things were mostly getting better, he said to continue w/ the cold-packs, and wear a knee support....I told him that knee 'sleeves' really bother the back of my knees, so he said to "get a flimsy one that will provide a little support and compression." FLIMSY? I can wrap it w/ an ace at night, and then I don't have to worry about it slipping down to my ankle. Otherwise I can put a lidocaine patch on it; they are flexible and I can put one on each side of my knee, pulled kind of tightly so it is pressing over the area. Anyway, NO SURGERY NEEDED! He said it would take about 6 more weeks to finish healing if I continue to 'baby' it.

Hubby wanted to go to the Chinese buffet today, but I said no, as I had been doing a lot of things this morning---doc's appt, post office, grocery store (he'd run out of Pepsi Zero. Icky stuff!). Then when I got home I brought in the groceries and put them up; refilled the bird-feeders, put out the deer's corn, changed the water by the bird-feeders, gathered the full wastebaskets inside, paid some bills. Anyway, I was too tired and sweaty to think about going out to eat Chinese today. So hubby went back up to bed to rest again, and said to call him when I was going to heat up the suppers. I got a lot of their (N and hubby) preferred microwave meals, because I am not going to 'cook' today! Maybe we'll go out tomorrow and eat Chinese.

And guess who told me two days ago to leave the dishes in the sink and he'd get them later? I guess he meant much, MUCH later, because there they sit, waiting a washing. We'll have to pull out silverware and wash it, to be able to eat supper!

And just in case you were wondering, there were no phone calls made today, but that's okay. We are still waiting to hear from the credit card fraud investigators about that charge on Nannie's master card. Oh! AND we got a bill from the nursing home she was in 2+ years ago....the nursing home had closed down due to lots of poor care and maintenance that was not maintained, but the company that owned it decided we owe them $$ to the tune of $1200+ for her stay there. But, they are wrong! Medicare paid for a week in the hospital, and then they covered a month in a nsg home. And after that month was when we took her out and brought her back home. That's some more papers I have to dig out to prove it! We may have to get a lawyer to help straighten their butts out, and prove we owe them NOTHING! I don't suppose they'd like being turned in to Medicare for false charges. Nannie also got her tax bill (about $600 something) and her insurance bill, about maybe $1295 . We'll have to get that dough from her investments-people at John Edwards.

It is almost time to start zapping dinners.

All for now~

Glad you don't have to have surgery Stars.

I meant to post in the political section so erased it and have to post something here instead.

Good to hear you were only minimally affected Dianah. I've been unable to access much info about the storm. The news outlets make towns in California seem close by, and it's a big state!
Stars, good news about your knee. My dh has been better about doing up the dishes, especially after I showed him my crumbling fingernails. We are going out to eat tonight to celebrate our 47th anniversary. It will likely be somewhere that serves fresh fish.

wow, Joe, sounds like you are really heating up. Temps remain cool here, but still smoky and humid.
I'm sitting at the autoglass place to fix a rock chip. Please excuse typos, LOL

Guess I got a day behind and posted on Sunday's thread today.

J22 just reminded me that I noticed a small crack in the windshield of the car that is leaking coolant (and needs a brake job). Cars and pets keep us broke.
