Modified or Light duty?

Planning to return to work after a 4 month leave of absence due to personal injury. Although the bone in the foot has healed, I am still having some muscle and tendon strain underneath my foot when walking for prolonged periods of time. I will see my doctor tomorrow for check up and discuss returning to work, but not sure if it's a good idea to return to full duty if the strain feeling is there.

I think a few weeks of modified duty or desk job might be safer for me while I continue to do physical therapy.

My concern with this is will my workplace allow modified duty if my injury was not work related?

Depends on the facility's policies. Mine is light duty only for OTJ injuries. You will need to ask your HR department.

Not Likely.

As your injury is not work-related, your workplace is not obligated to provide modified duty positions.

My job will not allow any nurse to work with any medical restriction- at all.
