Hi Everyone. I will be applying to MJC nursing program this May 2016/17. I will be taking my Teas early April for the first time, but so far without my Teas I have 68 points on my application. Anyone who is applying to mjc, I'd love to get an idea where everyone else is at and what my chances might be. Also if you could share what you scored on your teas and what do u think the cut off would be this year... So excited to hear back from u all :) :)
Last year the point cutoff was incredibly high. I believe everyone that got a 62 or higher was asked to provide supporting documentation. However, only applicants with 68 and higher were selected.. and I don't believe that all applicants with 68 got accepted either. The majority of applicants that got accepted scored in the 70s (or higher) and the few remaining spots went to applicants with 69 and then even fewer to those with 68. (We had a Facebook group last year for all the applicants to discuss scores and such, so I believe this is all correct info if I'm remembering correctly). Ideally you need to score in the 70s. The higher the better too. The point range goes up each year. It's cut throat! Good luck guys!
Hi everyone!!! I'm so happy someone started a thread for this application cycle. I applied last year with 56 pts to the Columbia campus but missed the cut off by 5 pts, it was 61 for that campus. I took a few more classes and also repeated a class and will be applying this year with 75pts and 86.7 TEAS score. Is anyone else applying to the Columbia campus??
MJC and Columbia are the same program but the Columbia students participate in lecture via video conference from Columbia college. When you apply, you have to select which campus you want to attend, MJC selects 40 students for that campus and 10 students for the Columbia campus. Also from my understanding, each campus has its own selection pool of applicants so you only compete with applicants at the campus you want to attend. I've also heard that the Columbia students must travel to MJC to take exams. If this sounds confusing there is more info on the MJC ADN program website.
"Mwearin"- I was just looking through the thread that we had last year and was wondering if you were going to apply this year! I'm glad to see you are! I was the one who made our fb application page last year. I think you all should make one. The program is going great! "Heberry" is correct about last year's points. Our class (fall start) started with the lowest person at 68 but I'm not 100% sure where the lowest for spring fell because they had like 4 months for people to accept other places and all those spots to be filled. If that makes sense. Good luck to everyone applying this year! It's totally worth it!
Thanks for thinking of me jnramsay!!! I wouldn't let one failed attempt deter me from applying again!! Glad to hear the program is going well for you, I can't wait to start!! A Facebook page would be awesome, would anyone be interested in creating one?? It was really helpful last year for all the applicants who had questions and also helped us get to know our potential classmates, at least for those who got in anyway.
