Hi Everyone,
I have my interview for the MN program at the U of M later this week. I was looking for some advice on preparing for it from anyone who may have been accepted into the program in the past. Also, any advice from others interviewing this year would be helpful.
Thanks!
Great news to calm your nerves; this year they are accepting 64 applicants instead of 48! I went to their informational meeting today and they said this is the first year they increased the number of applicants who are accepted. This year 283 applied, 103 interviewed, and 64 will get a "YES!"
They also said the NCLEX pass rate was in the mid 90s (but didn't give a specific number) and said that 99% of their students graduate from the program in 16 months (meaning virtually no one flunks out or is dropped).
How are your interviews going? You're all sharp as a tack, I'm sure everyone did great!
I had mine yesterday morning. I think it went really well too. The only thing is that because it's so conversational it's hard to tell if you've really answered their questions. I mean she asks something, I say something, she asks something else and suddenly we're both on tangents.
But I got positive feedback about my essay so I think that's a good sign. )
Honestly I have no idea. I have a few decisions to make. Duke is more expensive, but they provide tuition reimbursement if you work at the hospital after graduation. It's pretty much the same program-both provide me with masters level credits and are the same length. There is just the initial $20K difference in cost.
Also, I wouldn't have to move across the country to go to the U, which is nice as money is mildly tight right now as I am trying to save as much as I can. It just seems a lot easier to go to the U, but I don't want to make a decision just because something is easier....sigh. Also, while I just moved back to MN and don't really have a lot of friends here anymore, the rest of my family is here, which is nice.
I know this sounds horrible, but I was mildly hoping to get denied so the decision would be made for me. I know, tough spot to be in, right?

Last year there were 95 interviewed and 48 accepted and I bet this year will be the same or close to.
