Hi, I couldn't find a thread that may have the same issue I had. I received my ATT confirmation yesterday, but sadly my name was spelled incorrectly. I have two first names. The second one was missing a letter. My middle name was also misspelled. I've heard stories where Pearson wouldn't allow people to test if their names didn't match their ID. I called Pearson and said they could not help me because my ATT is confirmed so I had to contact the California BRN instead. I was calling their office the WHOLE day (i'm not exaggerating). I lost my patience so I decided to write a letter with the details needed to be changed. I just want to make sure that I did the right thing in mailing a letter instead :( I really want to schedule my NCLEX date but I want to fix everything before I get a date.

The first thing you need to do is figure out who made the mistake. Go back and check your application and make SURE you didn't misspell your name on any of the application documents. If you had a background check, make sure your name wasn't misspelled on any of those documents.
If you made the mistake through an input error, you'll have to work through the process.
If your application to the California BRN was correct, then Pearson has made the error and they need to fix it. You need to call and ask to speak to a supervisor, not the customer service rep reading from a screen that has no authority to do anything.
Question for you: By any chance is the letter missing the last one? If so, that may be a field limitation when the letter was generated and any characters exceeding that space may be dropped by default. If that is the case, your ATT should be OK, but I would call Pearson and explain that and make sure before you pay to schedule anything. You can even drop by the testing center and ask them in advance.

Hi Jory,
Thank you for your reply. All of my BRN applications and even the letter of eligibility to test I got from the BRN are all correct. When I registered for PearsonVue, I noticed that my second first name was missing a letter so I assumed that was okay. When I went to school to pay for the ATT code, the email that I received misspelled my middle name ? I informed my school and they told me to contact Pearson or the BRN. Do you think I should just schedule my NCLEX or just wait until I get a reply from the BRN?

I would not schedule your test until the problem is fixed. When you go to test they verify your name and it must match exactly in order for you to sit to test. It would be terrible to schedule your exam only to find out the problem has yet to be fixed and you can not sit.

Hello!
I know this was posted a long time ago, but I want to know what happened. You see, I have the same problem. I just got my ATT, Pearson and my ATT, the last letter of my first name is missing. On my BRN, my name is complete. How do you go about this?
I appreciate your reply. Thank you for your time.

Hey!
I would contact Pearson first to make sure your application may be missing the last due to your name being too long. Also, contact the testing center you're going to in case they may allow you to take the test despite the missing letter. My problem was misspelled so I had to get the BRN to fix it first 😕 but yeah, confirm first with Pearson to see if they are okay with that since your BRN shows it correctly. Hope this helps and good luck!
