I just got accepted into a program. The first day or orientation is in person but I will not be in the states that day. Is it terrible to miss the first day of orientation?

I am hoping that my spot will not be forfeited.

Sometimes it is not best to call attention to yourself by saying you need an adjustment to the schedule that is sent out in May, but you cannot be there in August/September. That being said you can ask the school.

I just want to add that if the school does an additional orientation for you, you will miss out on the questions others students ask, which you never thought about. It is your call.

That would be a question for the school.

I would ask the school.

Ask the school.  No one on a message board can give you an accurate answer.
