Missed my NCLEX b/c of Death in the Family

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hello All,

I missed my NCLEX exam because my uncle, who was like a father to me, was placed in hospice care just a few days before my exam. He had cancer, stage 4. I was his primary caretaker for about a year and was so busy handling all the hospital and hospice arrangements that I didn't get a chance to reschedule my NCLEX. Plus, even if I did get a chance to reschedule, the last date I could take it before my ATT expired was only 8 days ahead of my originally scheduled date. Given that I wanted to spend as much time as possible by my uncle's side on his last days, of course, I didn't plan on taking the exam. His comfort was my only priority. He passed away on the morning of my scheduled exam. I'm so blessed and thankful to have been able to be right by his side to the very end.

I know that I need to register with Pearson Vue ($200) to take the exam on a new date. However, I'm unsure if I need to submit another Online Examination Application (which includes fingerprints, affidavit of graduation, criminal background check...etc) to the Texas Board of Nursing in order to receive another Authorization to Test. Also, I read somewhere that my record with the Board will indicate that I failed to take the initial exam....is this a permanent bad mark that will affect me in my career? Any info about the above 2 concerns is appreciated while I wait until Monday morning to call the BON and Pearson Vue. I'm desperate to know now. Thanks in advance.

Don't wait for info here. Call Pearson Vue, call your State BoN for the answers you need now.
