Missed Deadline..Can I Take Dual Courses

Published

Hi guys!

I am currently attending SUSLA(Southern University at Shreveport Louisiana) and I am just about finished with my pre-reqs. In January 2016 I was supposed to take the nursing school entrance exam(Pax-RN) to enter the fall clinicals but was told too late. Now I have to take the Pax-RN in July and enter the first course in January of 2017. Because of this I won't graduate on time which should have been December 2017 but now will be May 2018. Is there anyway to catch up? Like maybe enter a clinical course at another institution and transfer those credits? Or should I talk to the director of nursing and ask if I can be placed in that one course for the fall so I can be on track?

The other institution would be NSULA(Northwestern State University) that's also in Shreveport and offers equivalent courses that will transfer.

Anyone else been in this situation? If so, what did you do?

Specializes in NICU.

It is very rare that a nursing school will accept another school's clinical credit.

They have an articulation agreement.
