Mira Costa/ Palomar Fall 2016 Cohort

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone!!

I am creating this thread to connect with others in the same boat as I. I recently applied to Mira Costa and Palomar College. My experience with Mira Costa was completely different from Palomar. The representative at Mira Costa opened my application in front of me. To make sure all was there😊. Im already so nervous and this is just day 1 of waiting for 2 months. Feel free to share your experience, points, worries, advice(from students already accepted in the RN program)

Good luck to us all 😄

Not yet. MiraCosta was my first choice, but it will be interesting to see if I get into Grossmont and/or Palomar. Did you apply to MC?

I only applied to Palomar for fall cohort. I was looking to stay in the San Marcos area, and planning to apply to CSUSM for their Spring cohort. I somehow forgot about MiraCosta's program. The department said emails would be sent the first week in April, I am obviously refreshing my mail every fifteen minutes today.

Good luck! Fingers crossed for you! :)

Congrats to you guys for getting into MiraCosta! I got a rejection letter :( Waiting to hear back from Palomar which is my first choice. I'm refreshing my email every 5 min like a lunatic, so I wanted to see if anyone has heard back yet. Fingers crossed!

Does anyone know when we should expect to hear back by? Online it says early April and I'm getting more anxious day by day!

MiraCosta already sent acceptance notifications. Palomar has not sent me anything. I think they will have them by the end of April. That is what I was told over the phone.

I received my acceptance email from Palomar today. What I've noticed is that they have their orientation May 9th and MCC has their's July 12. Kind of wish MiraCosta's was earlier, so I would know more about the program sooner. I think I am still choosing to go to MiraCosta, but does anyone know the main differences between the programs (affiliated hospitals, schedule, class size)? I liked MiraCosta's college campus, and heard they have class sizes of only 24-28 students.

Best of luck everyone! :)

MC class size is only 20 students. Palomar has many more than that. MC pushes IVs much sooner than Palomar. MC is affiliated with Tri-City. Palomar is affiliated with Kaiser/Palomar. Both are great schools from

what I've heard. I also received an acceptance e-mail from Palomar. I will be forfeiting my spot. I am choosing MC because I don't have to get on the 78 to get there!

Does anyone know approximately how many students are accepted into Palomar's program each fall?

I still have not heard anything from Mira Costa although most of you have either received acceptance or denial letters by mail. This makes me nervous. I sent an email today. I will call in the morning. Hopefully I hear back soon.

Congrats to you all who received acceptance letters/emails  !!

I did not apply to Mira Costa, but have not heard anything back from Palomar either. I know last year they sent out a first round of acceptance/denials and then a few days later sent more based on how many had accepted or declined their position. So maybe there is still hope haha?
