hello, happy new year!
need help choosing a minor with my nursing BSN, i have philosophy in mind. i intend to move forward and become a family nurse practitioner. i really want to get a minor that would benefit me with this goal, not just something i think will be fun.

Philosophy would probably be worthless. I would encourage you to minor in business administration or healthcare administration.

If you want to do philosophy, do philosophy. We need more nurses with solid grounding in philosophy. It might not lead to a specific career path in nursing, but the education will sharpen your thinking skills and help you deal with the complexities of contemporary life and professional practice. Philosophy can enrich your soul -- and that's a good thing.
Not everything valuable is immediately practical.

My professors always recommended biology, psychology, or sociology for minors as a BSN student. I got a biology minor but I wanted a creative writing minor, I just couldn't do all the classes in 4 years to get it (my school was very small and had very limited schedules so most classes were only offered at one time per semester). Honestly no one has even asked what my minor was.
