In September MNA nurses, 15,000 strong and spanning 15 hospitals, staged a 3-day strike amid contract negotiations that were going nowhere.
Well, they have apparently continued to go nowhere, and the same nurses will vote in 2 weeks to strike again.

What a tough situation for those nurses, the patients, and even the organizations. It's hard to see sometimes how two sides can't come together to do what's right for patients. It seems it's not ever 100% one side or the other in the wrong, but this seems like the worst possible outcome. I hope they are able to come to an agreement before this has to happen.

In case anyone was wondering, all hospitals in question have settled on a preliminary agreement with MNA. They will be receiving 18% salary increases over the next 3 years, and the nurses won their right to having a place at the table when it comes to decisions on individual unit staffing ratios.

Congrats, MNA!
