Minnesota New Grad RN Payscales

I'm sure this gets asked frequently, but I can't seem to find an answer specific to MN new grads.

I'm interested in working in the Allina system in MN. I'm currently in the UMN MN (master of nursing) program.

I'd love to get a job at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids MN which is an Allina hospital.

I'm wondering what the starting payscale is there for new RNs, and if anyone knows what the pay differentials are.

I've heard there's a small bump for having a masters degree. I know there can be a bump for nights or weekends or both. Any info specific to MN would be great, especially Allina.

I don't have any info on payscales but I just wanted to see how the program is going? I was supposed to be starting last fall also but had to defer when I found out right after I got accepted that I was pregnant. So I'm starting this fall instead. I'm so excited. Are you enjoying the program? How are clinicals? Good luck with the rest of the program!

I don't work Metro, but work for Allina in a rural area...and I think new grads start at $26... though I'm sure it would be more at Mercy. I don't know about diffs for Masters, weekends etc there..

But- I will say I am proud to work for Allina... I LOVE my job, rarely have any complaints. I know they did a lot of layoffs last year though, and metro nurses are having trouble finding jobs. I know of new grads in the cities that have been looking for RN jobs with a BSN for > a year. Good luck to yoU!

roughly 27 bucks plus usually 2 bucks for noc shift, and if you work dedicated straight nights, usually 4 bucks an hour on top of your base pay, and usually really decent benefits i.e. health ins. and 403b.

A starting RN working within the Minnesota Nurse's Association which is the case for all Allina hospitals has a starting base pay of $30.19 with a Masters degree, $29.21/ hr if you have a BSN. The shift differential is $4 more an hour if you work straight nights. The weekend differential is $1.25/hr.

The MN program. . .wow. It's a hard question to answer honestly. Technically I'd do it all again, so far. There are a lot of things that really bug me about it. Maybe it's because my undergrad was at a private school (Bethel) or that I've had some really incredible teachers at community colleges—I felt very let down overall in terms of teaching abilities, organization, relevance, etc. At the same time I've heard similar stories about other nursing programs. My previous degree was in communication so I'm particularly critical of presentations, clarity, and other communication driven issues. I'd do it again b/c it's the fastest most efficient route to do the things I want. The clinicals are excellent! And many of the teachers are really cool. Dr. A in advanced physiology is one of the top teachers ever anywhere! Good luck to you, and overall I'd say the program still makes sense.

Where did you do your nursing degree? I was considering Bethel but I am not sure if they have an accelerated program.

I'm doing my MN program through umn. My BA at bethel was media comm.
