mileage reimbursement question

mileage is typically paid in my region from the first home onward, unless that person lives further from my home than the office. In that case, I charge for mileage to that first visit as if I was travelling from the office. Same at the end of the day...my mileage away from my last visit is paid based upon the distance from the home to the office. Having said that, most of us try to set our schedules so that our first and/or last visits are those closest to our homes, thereby getting the max mileage reimbursement for our day.

Same for my hospice, except on weekends, when the office is closed. Then, it starts from my driveway, the thinking being my home is the office.

I use to work for a Hospice company out of Kansas City, Missouri, up until Oct. Their mileage reimbursement changed monthly depending on the gas price of a local quick trip, at the end of the month before the new month started. Working on call, I got paid from my home to patients homes/facilities, and including back to my home after my last visit of the day(night). If I went home and got called out again, it was again, the same. I didnt collect mileage reimbursement if I was going to the office from home, for the Monday morning meetings. If I needed to run to the office for supplies or whatever while on call, mileage was of course included. It's sad how some other hospice companys are SO EMBARRASSINGLY TIGHT/CHEAP, to pay as little as possible for as much as they can get out of a nurse. I SAY RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM COMPANIES LIKE THAT! It's sad how nurses(and women in general) don't speak up more on this(and so many other everythings in life) and get walked on. We need to stand up for ourselves as women/nurses and do it to where it actually makes a difference. Just ******** amongst ourselves is so nonproductive and a complete waste of time. Make a difference and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!

Actually your reimbursement is nothing to frown about. I get .32/mile and have from day one. I live 28.44 miles from office, so everyday that amount gets taken off my mileage,, unless I go to the office first thing. I don't get.paid mileage, or travel time from my last pts house to home.....even if its 60 miles, and 1.5h away. Our computer system automatically calculates mikes, and DONT ROUND TO WHOLE NUMBER..... if its 19.93, I get paid for exactly that.... not for 20 miles. Half the time the mileage is calculated wrong, to the good of the cmpy ... of course.... We don't get any bonuses throughout year to assist with car expenses..... so, just saying, yours isn't so bad.... from my research I've learned it takes over $1/mile when considering.gas, tires, upkeep, insurance, etc
