might be moving to Florida soon, a few questions

U.S.A. Florida

I'm currently a nurse working in Texas but there's a possibility I may have to move to Florida soon due to my husband's job...we would be in Fort Walton Beach which is close to Destin I believe. My Texas license will expire March 31 of this year, and I'll be renewing it soon in case we don't go; but I was wondering if I need any CE credits for a Florida nursing license? I don't have any right now since Texas doesn't require them for your first renewal. Also, could anyone give me just some basic info on obtaining a Florida license, such as the website I should go to? And does anyone know about the job prospects/salary in this area of Florida? Thanks in advance!

Here's a link about the CEU requirements. These are our requirements by those of us who have a license. I'm guessing that when you endorse your license here you won't have to have those requirements until you renew two years from then, but don't quote me on that. Probably best to clarify. http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/nur_ceu.html

I do know that when I moved here from North Carolina 17 years ago, NC was a state that didn't require CEU's and I endorsed without any CEU drama.

I think though that students prior to applying for their license now need to have the "Prevention of Medical Errors" one. Again, probably best to contact them for clarification.

Good luck to you!

Ft Walton is a great place! I lived there in the 80s. Now things have probably changed in the past 20 yrs....but back then the only hospital was Humana Hospital of FWB. Pensacola is an hour's drive to the East (a bit far for a commute). FWB is close to Destin and is a tad more affordable. Watch out for the white sand beach. It will burn you twice as fast! (not kidding)
