Updated:   Published

Hey everyone!

I created this forum for nurses applying to Midwestern University's CRNA program starting in 2023. Excited to connect!

6 weeks out and now I’m starting to panic.

Did you interview?

Does anyone know how likely you would be invited for an interview if you’re on the waitlist? I got an email that said I’m on the waitlist to be interview. I’m assuming that means if those who are invited to interview decline, I’m next on the list.

Does anyone know how many people they usually will interview?

I went to an event earlier this year with several CRNA program directors doing a Q/A.  The biggest thing I took from it was this advice straight from the PD's mouth.  "If you are on a waitlist, be consistent! E-mail weekly to check on the status."  They said there isn't a numeric value for the waitlist, it's just a pool of people all on an equal playing field at that point.  If they have someone eager and in their inbox it shows dedication to that school and your willingness to get in.  It may be annoying but don't let up until you get that rejection letter!

Thank you for that advice! Will definitely keep checking and keep in touch with the program.

Not all programs are like this. Many have the alternative list in an order and don’t make admissions decisions on the fly.

I just received an email as well that I’ve been waitlisted for an interview. To be honest, I’m a static since I found this program right before the deadline and had to really scrounge to put together my app in time! Good luck to all the interviews, and to those of us waitlisted, hopefully we hear back soon for a formal interview invite!

I’m just curious, when you said “make admissions decisions on the fly” what are you referring to? Do you have some more insight into the program? Do they do more of a rolling admissions decision process? It’s kind of seeming that way based on how spread apart I’ve seen the interviews.

I declined my interview so hopefully one of y’all get it!

sorry I wasn’t very clear. This is the comment I was referring too.

For a lot of programs, there is an order to the wait list. It doesn’t hurt to check in every now and then, but it won’t make a difference in the order.

They might still be looking at applications. I emailed the school to determine my applications status and was informed that it has not been reviewed.
