Has anyone gone to this school before? Is it a good school? Can I transfer to a lpn-rn program after graduating? What can I do to study for the entrance exam? Sorry, I'm a bit nervous, it's been a few years since I last been in school. I want to make sure, I make the right decision on what school/program I enter. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on other schools in the central nj area. That would be great.

That's good I am taking it on the 16th, I took it before it wasn't hard at all I passed but I am retaking the program so I had to test in again. Best of luck to you.

I see this thread is a few yrs old but I was wondering if you ended up going to the school? If so, how was it? I understand they do not test w/ the usual teas entrance exam.. They administer they're own.. Applied a few days ago & waiting to receive my test date. I wanted to know if you found the test difficult as I am studying my butt off for the math portion (Not my strongest suit) do you by chance know if the exam has changed since u took it? If anyone has taken the test &

has been accepted.. Congrats & pls share anything you can regarding the test.. Thanks!;)

I graduated from the LPN(evening) program in 2006. I took the NET exam in 2004 and was granted early acceptance. I remember feeling thrilled, but let me tell you this- the test was really basic. I went totally unprepared as I didn't even know that one could prepare for the exam! I also didn't know anything about MCVTS, but chose it because it was close to home and work and had an evening program. I do not like Math and am not very good at it, but even I thought the exam was easy! I had a lot of language and comprehension, along with basic math. I remember going to Barnes & Noble a couple of months after the NET and finding books to help with preparation!

MCVTS is a highly subsidized school and gives you the best value for money compared to almost every other LPN school in NJ. I spent around $6000 for the program including books. The program was very, very rigorous and went into a lot of detail in a short amount of time. It was a LOT of hard work with at least an hour or two of studying everyday! The instructors were good and clinical experiences gave us a lot of exposure to the real world. I had a 2-year-old, a full time day job and went to evening school with clinicals on Saturdays (every other week I think...don't remember) after the first 6 months. A lot of the students in my class had young kids and full time day jobs. Some quit the program after a couple of months and by the time we graduated in 2006, we had about 22 students remaining. I think we started with 28 or 30.

We has quizzes almost every week and had to write a report after some clinicals, especially once you get to the specialties. We did rotations in Psych, OB, Peds and Med-Surg. We took an exit exam after completion and I remember that was a big deal. The school took us through the process of applying for the boards. I took the NCLEX-PN immediately after completion and had my license even before the graduation ceremony.

Overall, the program gave me a strong foundation into Nursing and I don't really have anything negative to say. Things might be a little different now, I cannot comment on something that I don't know, but I felt like it was one of the best experiences of my life! I took it easy for the next 5 years, had another baby:) and enrolled in an LPN-RN program at Excelsior College in Oct 2011. I graduated earlier this year and passed my NCLEX-RN recently:))

A word of advice- if you are planning on attending evening school, it would help if you work, at least part time in the medical field. It connects theory and practice and help you remember and understand everything better. Good Luck!!

Please, is anyone attending Middlesex vocational technical school next year February? I just got letter to write the admission test on oct.28.How is their entry exams? Is it base on Teas? Please folks I need your help.

Hope all went well w/ the exam! I'm scheduled in 2wks (Fingers crossed) how was the math? Did it have exactly what they said it have or did surprise you w/ other stuff? Were there many word problems? What portion of the math did you find difficult/easy? Studying day & night & I hope to the Good Lord I pass & pass w/ a score that'll get me in..any feedback on anything-specifically the math would be greatly appreciated! Tnx;)

Thank you kindly for responding & your most appreciated & invaluble advice;) Happy to inform you that I've been accepted into the Lpn day program at Mcvts thanks to my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ! I am beyond excited about returning to school for an endeavor I've been wanting to complete since I was 21 when I initially started my Pre reqs in applied science. God is good & I plan to give it all I got & plan to continue my education thereafter;) Thanks again for responding to my post! BAD NEWS!

I was very psyched to go to this school. I aced the entrance exam which not only was 3rd grade level, but they dumbed down the math for the idiots who somehow graduated from high school. The school was clean and in a good area. I've read many good reviews for this school which is why I chose it. They told us to be on time yet they started the exam 30 minutes late so I almost got killed in traffic for no good reason. Everything went well after until the woman collecting the test drops the bomb on us. "You need to have health insurance if enrolled in this program." WOW Thanks for telling us after we paid the application fee and missed a days pay from work. I understand you need nursing insurance for the clinicals, but some of us work full time and with night school can't afford this Obama care garbage. So I'm out and can't attend this school now because of health insurance. No other school asks for this requirement. I'm extremely upset and it would be nice if they update their website and application process to mention this.

you are right that is def something that should be stated before anyone takes a day off. thanks for the heads up.

If you don't mind can I ask you a few questions about your experience and what they told you up until you decided to go?

How was the test? did they focus a lot on math? every time I have asked I am told something different. which makes it really hard to prepare for. some people say basic addition, subtraction

multiplication and divisions and some say algebra. So I am very confused at this point and test is next week.

How was the reading part?

Did they give you any ideas about where clinical would take place?

Did you get to meet any teachers or current students?

any other info would be great. Need to get some info and not much is being provided when asked.

Keep getting the same once you come in for an interview everything would be explained.

I have heard it can take months to know if you are even accepted. Do you happen to know if this is true?
