Middle Georgia State University (MGA) Fall 2024

Published

Has any applied to MGU and got accepted? An ICU nurse at my job told me about the program stating she had low test scores and a 2.6 GPA and got accepted into the program. I have a 3.0 overall GPA and a 3.25GPA in my sciences. I applied to southern crescent last year(as they don't have restrictions of the age of sciences) with a HESI A2 score of 82 and didn't get in.  Some of my sciences are expired and I didn't see any restrictions on the school site about expired classes. I noticed they reopened applications to 4/30/24. I applied for the school and sent over my transcripts and rushed to take the TEAS before the deadline but made a 67 on the TEAS. BUMMER. but it's passing and above the required score so I could still apply. I wondered what other who've been accepted looked like.

@Monise Jai I sure will I received the denial letter for BSN hopefully ASN is coming next week.

More than likely. Not many apply to the ASN program to start. Majority of my cohort are readmitting's of students who flunked out of the BSN program. I know Spring admits less students so don't be discouraged. My advisor made it seems like I wouldn't get accepted into the program and I got my acceptance letter a week later so have faith. If you don't get accepted, it very well maybe they maxed out applicants with better scoring due to the decreased volume of student they accept in Spring. APPLY FOR FALL. This is by far the most organized nursing program I have come across. The teachers have decade plus runs teacher at this school. You'll never have to guess what's going on. The school's main source of money is their nursing and aviation programs, and they have put a lot of money and effort into tailoring these programs. When I check they had a 98% pass rate graduating and taking the NCLEX. I have fell in love with this program after hearing the horror stories of friends who went to other programs. It's a far drive for me but class is always one day of lecture. In the future semesters where you take 2 classes, you do lecture the same day for both classes. So, prepare to be in school all day on lecture days as you advance but they break everything down to you. BEST OF LUCK!

@Monise Jai thanks I will definitely keep you posted!!

If you don't mind me asking, why did she make it seem like you weren't going to be accepted? Was it based off your scores? Also, how many days of the week are you going to class?

My advisor was saying I didn't have all my classes to enter when I did my associates of pre nursing, which I had majority of classes complete. I only needed a humanities class to graduate, and I could take that during the Summer, and it wasn't a requirement for acceptance to the nursing program so I still applied because I knew she was talking out of her neck trying to make me take unnecessary classes. Telling me I need a history class and some other crap. I had already gone through the course schedule online and highlighted my completed classes according to their website and challenged that. Advisor had to go back and give me credit for the classes I already took. DO NOT RUN with what they tell you. DOUBLE CHECK. They will claim it's an error later on when you took bs classes and don't have the ones you needed to graduate as far as core classes. Advisors help the school get more money the more classes you take. My degree calendar looked like I hadn't done a thing, and I had to go back like IKYFL!

Depending on how many pre-requisites you've completed financial aid can be a doosy for the ASN program. I did not meet SAP requirements to qualify for aid and many in the ASN program do not either bc a lot of us took classes for the BSN and had too many credit hours for an associate's degree. They school is affordable. The entire degree costs about $12,000, so about 3K a semester. They allow NELNET payment plans, but you want to start that ASAP. When you get your letter of acceptance check the SAP requirements and see if you haven't gone over your billable credit hours for your degree plan. if you're over the credit hours SAP allows for associates degrees... CALL WIOA in your county and apply, they pay for everything! apply for grants, scholarships etc! if you need the payment plan, apply early! its a cheaper down payment and monthly payment the earlier you make it. Closer to the payment deadline you have to pay 50% upfront to finance the rest. It's 0% interest but you better make every payment ON TIME, they take it right out of your account. Go to financial aid the day you get your letter if not that next week. so not delay! a lot of my cohort got dropped due to financial aid reasons too. Also, health insurance is MANDATORY, they charge you $1,231 a semester if you don't have health insurance, you can waive the fee if you have insurance and tution is like $2330 or something like that. Order them supplies off TEMU to save a few dollars LOL

My bad, class is twice a week for all semesters. 1 day of lecture, 1 day of clinicals. when you take 2 classes, you'll have lecture for both classes on the same day.

You're God sent! LOL thank you lots. That's super helpful and good to know. They emailed me saying I didn't have certain classes for the BSN that I didn't even realized I needed but I never received a denial letter but obviously I assumed since I'm not taking those classes this semester I wasn't going to make it for the BSN program. I have everything for ASN though. I think LOL. I did not know about the financial aid part so I'm glad I have a heads up.

how many days a week do you go to class?

@futurenurse42 Did you get a declination letter for the BSN program? I'm trying to see if they just sent those out and not anything yet for ASN. I applied for both, but I knew I needed more for the bachelors that I have not taken. I was told they would be sending out letters on Monday as well.

I didn't get a declination letter for BSN. She just emailed me about the classes I haven't taken yet but that's it. I was expecting a declination letter though after she said that. So I just assumed it I was going to be declined anyways. I hope so. I don't want to wait all week LOL. I'm too anxious. Did you speak with someone and they said they would be?

@futurenurse42 I did get one for BSN my overall GPA was only 2.9 as and I still have more pre-requisite to complete for that program.ASN I'm good on that though because my science GPA is a 3.4 and my TEAS score is 87.3 and I have completed our pre-Work with the exception of English 1102 and I take that starting second semester in October. I was told that they will be sending out acceptance on Monday.

I just called she said they sent out declination letters but acceptance letters should go out today or tomorrow. I'm stressed. They need to come on LOL Good luck I hope to see yall soon 🥳

@Brittany Yavonne yes they told me the same thing hopefully soon because the anxiety and anticipation is tearing me up. Hope to see you soon.

Soon as the email comes through I'll let you know

In the mighty name of Jesus, we will all have the desires of our heart. Amen
