3. how hectic was the workload?

1. In the first module we had 3 or 4 writing assignments/papers. In the second module we only had one. You will use APA for all papers. If you aren't familiar with that style take some time to look it over. The student success center will edit your papers for free, so I always try to get mine finished a couple days ahead of time so I can send it to them.
2. There isn't really a time that you just shadow a nurse. You will have your first clinical experience in module 2 at a long term care facility. Each facility is a little different but you will care for residents and use the skills learned in Concepts 1 & 2. You will interact with nurses but will mostly be assessing and caring for the residents.
3. In my opinion the workload is heavy and very fast, but I do not have any healthcare experience. Students who already work in a hospital may not find it quite as challenging. Honestly, I spend the majority of my spare time studying. Most students do not work during the program, but there are some who do. You will have an average of 2-3 exams each week over several chapters of material along with quizzes and assignments. Our cohort has a OneDrive group where we upload exam objectives and work on them together which has been extremely helpful.
Here are some things you can do while you wait to start in March. I wish I would have done these things!!
I hope that helps some. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Beth :)
@BethAnn24 if you don’t mind me asking, I received a form stating to prepare for $5000 worth of expenses. Is this a good estimate? Thank you so much!!!
@aklb465 I will not spend near that amount, but I suppose some people might. I am renting books and not buying them. A friend gifted me a stethoscope. I only bought two pairs of scrubs and I got them on sale, haha! I also had most of my immunizations. On a side note, start gathering proof of immunizations now, and if you are missing any try to get them before you start classes.
All that to say it might be good to plan on $5000, but know you may not need it all. I hope that helps. ?
