Hey all!! I recently applied to MidAmerica Nazarene's ABSN program to begin this Fall 2020. I haven't been able to find a forum on here for the upcoming semester this year, so figured I'd start one and hopefully more people will stumble upon it and we can connect!!! I just took my TEAS today so I'm hoping they will (and I will ?) have my score soon and I'll hear back about my acceptance decision!!
I got accepted on a "conditional basis" because I have to take my TEAS test still. The test is on July 10th and it feels like a lot of pressure because I will for sure get in as long as I do well (68+)!! Nervous!
I am also not from Kansas City, but I plan to stay here for a bit because my boyfriend is working at truman medical center for the next 3 years! Are you guys from around this area? (I am originally from Minnesota)
@Leigh2020 I grew up about an hour south of KC but have lived in KC for the last 3 years! The TEAS isn't very hard and they give you a basic calculator, you'll do fine. Does anyone else on here have prior healthcare experience?
@SarahCawby That is awesome, I would love to hear about some of your favorite things to do around KC. I lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota for the past 4 years, so I like the big but not too big city feel!
I do have some past healthcare experience. My bachelor's degree is in Health Services Management and I worked as a direct care professional at a group home for disabled individuals for the past year. What about you?
@Leigh2020 KC is a good place for concerts, sporting events, lots of good bars/food. I work all the time so I don't get out a whole lot. LOL. I have worked in an ER for almost 4 years as a tech and have worked on the streets for almost a year as a paramedic. I've learned a crap ton that I think will be quite helpful for nursing school.
Hey everyone!
I recently submitted my application in NCAS, and I'm waiting to hear back on if I got in for the fall 2020 cohort. The wait is seriously killing me! MNU's program sounds so awesome and I have only heard really great things about it. I live and work in Olathe, so if anyone has questions about the area feel free to reach out. The apartment complex that I live in now is affordable, quiet, and pet friendly!
Would anyone be willing to share stats? I'm SO paranoid that mine are not good enough because I'm going up against other candidates with a Bachelor's degree. I have a 3.6 GPA, I have an associate's degree and am a prior military medic. I got an 88 on the TEAS.
Hoping I hear back from the admissions department soon!
@Sca95 My prerequisite GPA was I think 3.7 and my TEAS was an 80 I believe. I am a military medic as well but a paramedic on the civilian side now. I read past cohort forums where several people had stats a lot lower and still got in so you should be fine, assuming there are still spots available! Good luck!

Oh very cool that you are prior military as well! It's nice to know there are others ? Have you talked to MNU yet about the yellow ribbon program? (I'm assuming you're using the post 9/11 to pay for school).
@Sca95 I am actually still in but I will be using state and federal TA to pay for school..well part of it. LOL. Since this program is crazy expensive I will be using private loans to fund the rest. But I have not talked to MNU yet, I guess I should get on that. My military situation is fluid right now because I am in the MO guard right now and ETS in August, so I'm planning on getting out and then re-enlisting into the KS guard so I can use state TA for school. It's a cluster right now ?

Hi everyone! I just got an acceptance yesterday, so they are still reviewing applications for this cycle!
