has anyone attended this program? i take the entrance test in april and i dont know what to expect. is it very hard? is this program any good?

How many books did u receive? did u have to carry them everyday? Do you get to choose the days and times you do your clinicals?

books will be given on the first day of class. dont know if u have to bring them everyday. no info has been given about clinicals yet. i believe it will be affected by how well you do and how many people remain in the program.

Hi everyone!!

Congrats to everyone who has gotten in!

I haven't gone to register yet but will by next week. I plan on registering for Mid-Manhattan but wanted to know for the Brooklyn location is it very far from the Bay ridge area? and what bus would I have to take to get there if I were to do the Brooklyn location?

Thanks in advance!!

=)

Hi Poettree! Im registered and all ready to go for the Brooklyn site. :yeah: Yes, it is a bit far from Bay Ridge. The Brooklyn school is in the heart of the Bedford Stuyvesant area. If you can mapquest Fulton Street & Nostrand Avenue, the school is about a block or two from there. I'm taking the B44 bus from my house to the school, the A & C trains also run there. Also the B25, 26 52 (if im not mistaken) run there too.

Also, I called the uniform store and they said they're not gonna have our scrubs for another 3 weeks.

Thanks for the info, I think I may register for Brooklyn too because I live in Queens and I don't want to commute too far.

Those who want to go to Brooklyn should register as early as possible in case they are placing students in sites strictly on a first come first serve basis. They told me the demand for Brooklyn exceeds its capacity so some students may not get their preference. I will be registering for Mid-Manhattan by next week.

Thank you missdiorcherie!! I was considering the brooklyn location but it is definitely very far compared to the Mid-Manhattan location. Since we can't be classmates, lets keep in touch =) You had said that you called in about the scrubs? Do we have to buy them ourselves? Or are we given a voucher to buy it at certain stores?

@lancedac: I will be registering next wk (Monday). I really hope seats are still available for the Mid-Manhattan location. Looking forward to being classmates with you =)

Hi! I'm new to this site.Congrats to all those who got accepted for the Class 2011-2012! I recently got accepted to the LPN program too! I have few questions, I hope someone can help. What kind of shoes are you allowed to wear with your uniform? How many books do you get? And do you have to carry them everyday?

You are allowed to wear regular sneakers with your blue scrubs. When you start clinicals next jan/feb. you will have to buy nursing shoes. They accept only nursing shoes ocne you start clinicals.

As far as books go, you get whole host of books usually the first week of schools. If i remember correctly i got about 14 or so books of various sizes. Later on in the semester, you will get another box of review ATI books/DVD. You will get a locker so will have some place to put your books.

I cant speak for the other schools, but at brooklyn school, you pretty much will be required to have most on your books at school bc you dont know which ones the teachers will refer to in the beginning. Also, i feel the need to prepare in coming students (idk why?) brace your self for what can be percieved as an abrasive teaching style of some teachers. Stay focus despite this, they mean well in their own way. I have seen too many of my classmates get distracted or engage in pointless arguments with the teachers in which they can never win. By the way, most of those type of students did not make through the program. The best thing to do is to humble yourself, irrespective of whatever background you bring with you to the school. The student that comes with a chip on their student will have a hard time making it through the program. I say all of this not to scare anyone, but several of my friends program were asked to leave bc of percieved 'bad attitude'. Good luck to everyone again.

Good luck to everyone who has been accepted to the lpn program!! Next year it will be you guys who will be giving advice to new students. 10 months goes by really fast, so make the most of it!:)

QUESTION!

If I were to take out a loan to pay for this program and then pay it off throughout the course of the program, how would I go about doing that?

Im not sure about loans Poettree. Maybe someone can shed some light on this for you. I've been saving for months in anticipation of being accepted.

When I registered, I was given a uniform voucher for a specific store. The voucher is for 2 uniforms (I'd have to buy extras myself). I actually went by the Manhattan store and they said that they wouldnt be ready for 3 weeks.
