What part of the study guide is giving you trouble? I loved Micro.

I'm looking at the study guide and I swear it's written in Greek. Is there a cheap online Micro class to fulfill this requirement or should I just stick with the exam? My local college wants me to pay $360 a credit for non degree status because I have a degree already.

I understand exactly what your saying. I am scheduled to take it Sept 13. At first I didn't understand a word of it but I bought the college network module and started reading the parts that I did understand. I have been working on it for about 2 weeks. If I pass it next week, I will be happy but if I fail it, I will pick it up after the CPNE. I bought Lisa Arends notes and they were pretty good after I found out how to use them. Sometimes too much info is a distraction. Start with the parts that you do understand like the infectious diseases. I have 7 days to try to make a C. Right now I am probably at a D. But I am not afraid to face it. I am not changing my date. Sept 13 is the date whether I pass or fail.Good Luck and if you can try to just read and it will start to come to you.

I got the Micro textbook EC recommends for the course (bought it cheap from half.com) and was overwhelmed when it came - 800+ pages. I started reading and really felt overwhelmed because the first few chapters were Greek to me, but after I got past them I realized I already knew a lot of the material from other classes in my LPN course. I had been dragging this out for 8 long months when I decided it was make it or break it time. I set a date for the exam giving myself 5 weeks. I quit trying to take notes and remember everything I read, and just started reading through each chapter, did the practice tests at the end of the chapters, also got Lisa Arends notes, read them, went over her practice tests, went and took the exam and made a B! It was the first EC exam I took and had decided if I didn't pass it I would just forget the whole thing. After I figured out how to study the material I did the same with all my other tests -- set a date, only giving myself a month to study, and did nothing for months with my free time but study. I made A's and B's on everything. That was January 2007 when I took Micro. I'm also working full time, so I finished my last nursing exam June 2008 and I just have to do CPNE now (yikes - freaking out again!) You can do this - you already know a lot of the material from your previous education. Go for it, and good luck!!
