I saw some posts from 2009, but I wanted to ask if anyone has had any luck lately with any online courses for microbiology? If so, any links? I'm looking for the class to do my pre-reqs.

I finished the class in 10 days, and earned an “A.” Only $792 and it transferred to my local community college and three nearby universities. Do yourself a favor and just do it there. I also took both Anatomy & Physiology classes and a Statistics class from them.

I took it last Summer, learned a lot, and enjoyed it. As others have said, make sure your school will accept an online science class first. You do all the experiments at home. It runs every semester, including in the Summer. You definitely get out of it what you put into it, but it's really well-organized and graded fairly.

No, they're actually not. The micro class I took we used actual viruses, bacteria and did several procedures that would require an actual lab setting. Plus, being in a lab reinforces what you learn in lecture. My classes were over 20 years ago unless something changed, an actual lab should still be required.

Check out Ocean County Community College. They offer microbiology online. You need to purchase microscope and lab kit so that you can perform all labs at home.
