Hi all!! I have 3 more prereq's to take...A&P I, II, and Micro. My question is do you recommend taking Micro with A&P I OR II? I love this website and get so motivated. I will be applying for the Nursing program at Moraine Valley Community College and am SOO nervous. But one day at a time right?! Thanks for your help.
Here at GSU it's the same A&P I &II are pre-req's for Micro. Micro is not as time consuming. Although, if you can I would say brush up on basic chem, look over your alkali and alkaline earth metals, as well as basic compounds. It may have just been my A&P I teacher but he loved involving chemistry in the first parts of the chapters. Plus, going over the chemistry might help you understand some of the chemical aspects that you're mainly going to learn in A&P I.
At my school they do prefer us to separate those three classes. I do not know how your summer school is set up, but here we have A-term(5 wks), B-term(5 wks), and long term(end of May till middle of July). I would take A&P I over spring with like a first-aid class and maybe health and disease, you know something simple. Then over A-term A&P II by itself and then microbiology that last little bit. Then come fall, your not over worked and ready to head into your first semester of nursing school fresh with all the knowledge.

I took A&P I over the summer and am currently taking A&P II with Micro. So far, I find this pretty advantageous because in my first unit for Micro, which my prof says is the hardest, we are discussing a lot of what we went over in A&P I such as the 4 macromolecules, Chemical Bonds, Parts of a Cell, pH, prokaryote vs. eukaryote, stuff like that. Our professor says our first Micro test is the hardest because there is so much to remember, but I think having just recently had all of this in A&P I it means less I have to remember for the first test!
Good luck whatever you decide!
