  1. Mango peach and Adra, thanks for your inputs
  2. As a 2007 graduate myself, I do have to say congrats. I really hope you get in as soon as possible and do a wonderful job! P.s. I was losing hope but after reading your story and some very supportive posts of this site, I have to say I really am starting to think.. maybe not tomorrow, maybe not by Oct 1st, but some day my day will come. Thank you
  3. Here at GSU it's the same A&P I &II are pre-req's for Micro. Micro is not as time consuming. Although, if you can I would say brush up on basic chem, look over your alkali and alkaline earth metals, as well as basic compounds. It may have just been my A&P I teacher but he loved involving chemistry in the first parts of the chapters. Plus, going over the chemistry might help you understand some of the chemical aspects that you're mainly going to learn in A&P I. At my school they do prefer us to separate those three classes. I do not know how your summer school is set up, but here we have A-term(5 wks), B-term(5 wks), and long term(end of May till middle of July). I would take A&P I over spring with like a first-aid class and maybe health and disease, you know something simple. Then over A-term A&P II by itself and then microbiology that last little bit. Then come fall, your not over worked and ready to head into your first semester of nursing school fresh with all the knowledge.
  4. Hey kdrose01, I understand hun. I hated chem (I), I struggled so much. I failed the first two tests until I got tired of it and just went and staked out my professors office. I was always talking to her before, after, and during class.... This is the best advice I can give you. Next that little person that is always raising their hands and answer question, yeah... make friends. I did that and she has been my TA for both my chem labs. I am in my second gen chem now if you have any questions.. let me know. Good Luck...with your class and nursing school.
  5. HI everyone.. to those that got accepted congratulations!!! It's been a long unbearable wait for you I am sure. I am new to this sight and I am love this thread I feel like ya'll are feeling what I am. I'm 21 and praying for my letter. I put it in back on August 6th 2010. So, yes, I am a hopeful! VERY VERY HOPEFUL. I am applying to Georgia Southern University BSN program and I am so nervous. They only accept 50 students a semester and 5 of those seats automatically go to those nursing majors in ROTC. Only 40 seats left. We were told 6-8 weeks, I am currently anxiously awaiting through my 7th week of not knowing. UUUUGGGHHH !!!!! Bad thing is my GPA is a 2.899999 its aggravating cause they say they only accept 3.0 but there have been some every semester below that. However, I got a question for my fellow hopefuls..... I took A&P I fall of freshman year had some medical things happen and my professor was less than caring (tenure and head of dep of health and kiniesiology) got a D in the course. Didn't know about medical withdrawl or anything like that and by the time my adviser told me it was too late to get it taken off. Unfortunately for us, grades do not come off our records. The D is there and so is my C from A&P I & II. That was taking care of, my now ex, boyfriend who had kidney disease and dialysis.... yada. Anyways, I was thinking if I do not get accepted this go around should I retake my A&P's? Major1: I do not know how you have been waiting so long
  6. Yeah, I got it... and thank you so much for that encouragement. I am only taking 13hrs this semester so as long as I can keep studying as hard as I am I will finally get my 3.0. However, I do not know if it is in time. They tell us a minimum of 3.0 to apply but, my friend got accepted last spring and she told me that there were at least five people in her class that was under a 3.0. So, I praying the hardest prayer I can to just let my dream finally become a reality.
  7. I know you have to be excited and nervous all at the same time... it's hard taking this first step forward and starting to see a possible graduation date. You deserve to jump up and down and wear the biggest smile on your face. But, most of all you should be very proud of yourself.
  8. HI ya'll. I am currently a 4th year college student but because of being a pre-nursing major I am really a perpetual sophomore. I have always wanted to be a nurse. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. It just seems to be constantly slipping out of my hands now a days. I have fought long and hard to bring my GPA back up close to a 3.0 and the ways things are looking this semester I might have it at the end. Unfortunately, not in time for my application which was handed in back on August 6th. So now, 6 weeks later, I find myself hoping and wishing for the letter to come. I just feel really discouraged because the nursing secretary told me they would just throw the application :sniff: of ankle surgery, being on crutches trying to make it across campus in 10min, and a professor who just did not care. I want to be a nurse but I am wondering if I will ever get to feel the joy the person felt at 1230pm today. Its hard to have a dream that you want so mush and yet, people are telling you that you're not smart enough for this job.... one semester.... one really, really, really bad semester. Sad, discouraged, and my hope is flickering anyone got any advice of what I can do sense my grades are not what they should be? :sniff:
