Finally a Nursing Student
Congrats!!! I got my acceptance letter last week. I am so excited to finally be starting the nursing portion. I have the same problem with people not understanding what it is like. They think, wow you have been in school for 2 years already, yet you still have 2 years to do. I am just so thankful that I got selected my first time. I start clinicals in Jan 2011, and just so excited!!!!! Congrats again

I got my acceptance letter!!!!
Thank you everyone for your comments and congrats. It is such an exciting time. It is still sort of surreal to me.... iluvpatho- I start clinicals in Jan 2011. carrieN23 - My school actually doesn't go off of your gpa. They use a combination of grades for AP1, Clinical math, Reading and English. Plus your NLN score. My gpa is 3.75. I want to wish all those still waiting for those letters, don't give up hope. Your gonna get in.......

I got my acceptance letter!!!!
Hi everyone. I am so excited as I just got my acceptance letter to the nursing program. I am so excited! I did the happy dance as I walked back from the mailbox. It has been a long road to get to this point, but it was well worth it. Now the real hard part begins, "nursing clinicals". But I believe I am ready to go. I wish you all good luck, as those letters start coming in!!!!

NLN PreNursing Entrance Exam
Hi, I just took my NLN on the 3rd of Aug. I had the study guide, and used it a lot to study for the test. There were NO repeat questions on the actual exam. But it does sort of prepare you for the type of questions you will see. Gets you in the right mind set. If you have recently taken AP or Micro that will help a lot. I would recommend studying the info in the study guide verses taking the tests for the content. But do take the tests on the CD so that you can time your self. You have only 60 mins to complete each section. There was a bit of chemistry on my test. As well as a lot of physics. At my school we aren't required to take physics, so I was pretty lost there. I have heard that most people feel that they have failed the test, before getting their results. And I felt like that too. But I passed with an 89. Because of my good grades in my pre-req's I only needed to score in the 70's. So I was happy with my score. My school is different then most and only uses the NLN score in addition to other pre-req classes that we had to take. We are selected to the program on a point system. I hope this helps. :monkeydance:

A&P II or Mircro before NLN
Hi. I finished micro the day before my NLN. Its hard for me to say, as there were ap2 questions and some micro questions on my test. If you have had ap1 recently then I think you can get through the test with that. Do the review guide. You will not see repeat questions on the test, but it will prepare you for how they are going to test you. Hope this helps a bit...

Microbiology in a summer semester
Hello my fellow pre-nursing students. At my college, they just made Micro a requirement prior to applying for the ADN program. I am planning on taking it over the summer, since I apply Aug 15, 2010. I am currently in AP1 and have an "A", so I think that I will be able to do it. Was just wondering if anyone else has taken this class over a compressed schedule before? If anyone has any pointers to give to me? This class will be the only one that I am taking, so I am hoping that it isn't going to be as bad as everyone keeps telling me. Any help will be greatly appreciated......

Given credit for A&P II , should I take the class????
hi everyone:heartbeat~ i am a pre-nursing student, i have an a.s. in medical assisting degree from another university. when i transfered in to my current school they gave me 6 credits for my a&p i class. this school's a&p i is only worth 4 credits. so they say that i covered enough in my previous class that i do not to have to take a&p ii. but i am worried that if i do not take it that, i might have trouble when i actually get into the program. i spoke with our d.o.n and she said that she would recommend taking it as an audit. they offer us an opportunity to audit the class, which is when you pay for the class, you sit in on the class but you do not get credit for it, kinda a re-fresher course. which i am sure would help me! my problem is, i still have to take oeho116 (dosages), which i am planning on taking this summer. but i also have microbiology to take which i have planned on for fall 09. i have a 4.0 gpa but have been told not to take a&p ii and micro together. so i am thinking if i do decide to take a&p ii, i will take it in fall 09 and push micro to spring 10. then taking one at a time gives me that chance to take a few electives to keep up my hours, and add points to my package. but i really don't want to push my self back a semester if i don't have to. any advice from anyone? has anyone taken a&p ii and micro together? or have had a&p ii and think that it isn't needed so much in the actual nursing program? i have a few weeks to decide on what i want to do, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

CNA certification/ Nursing School
I currently live in Las Cruces, NM with my husband and family. I am currently working on my pre-req's for the nursing program. One of the requirements is to be a CNA. I have an Associates of Science and am a MA. But they are still requiring it. I have been trying to get into the CNA program they offer at the community college but it's always full. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas for me? Not sure what else to do, as they won't let me enter the program without it. My next question is we are only guaranteed to be here for another year. Could possibly be here longer, but not sure. I am kinda nervous to start the nursing program and then have to leave. If I am going for my ADN can I stop like in the middle and start again somewhere else? Will the classes transfer? I am just not sure what exactly to do and was looking to get some outside ideas...... Thanks for your help.....
