Does anyone know of an accredited college that offers MicroBio online and does not require a proctor. I soon will be 300miles from nearest college and 235 from nearest library, even the police station is 185miles away, so getting a proctor will be next to impossible. Thanx in advance

I'm taking it through ccconline next fall. It's worth 4 credits and has a lab. You have to buy the lab kit to go along with it though. Good Luck!
Do you know if they require a proctor? Thanx :)
Nope, everything is online. And your transcripts show it from your parent college (Front Range CC), not Colorado Community Colleges online.

dear clamonte79,
i am now taking a fabulous totally online microbiology course at ocean county college in toms river, nj. it has non-proctored exams with a "lock down browser," a hands-on lab with microscope that arrives at your house and it is from a fully accredited college with many pre-nursing students from all over the country. the professor is outstanding!
i work full-time and i am finishing my pre-requisites for nursing. my kids help me with the labs on weekends. they enjoy looking through the microscope and helping me set up the lab. i have "pretend" lab coats (white shirts) that they wear. we have made the labs a family fun thing to do that peaks there interest in science. when i am finished, i am going to use it for future science projects for them.
the course is wonderful. it is the most straight-forward online course i have ever taken. i have met so many other pre-nursing and nursing students from all over the country. i highly recommend it. here is the website for the biol 232 microbiology dl course:

you can contact the registration and records office at 732.255.0304. you can register now for biol 232 microbiology dl1 which runs in the spring 2008 quick term which is a ten week semester. it starts on thursday, february 26 and runs through wednesday, may 13, 2009.
i love this course and highly recommend it to anyone in the us who works full-time and is struggling to finish his or her nursing pre-requisites.
i hope this helps.

Jersey Nursing Girl,
A special thanks to you for letting me know about the course and the fun you can have with your kids with it!
I got the idea from you to have my kids "play scientist" and help me with the labs. They love it and its time we can spend having fun together. It is tough raising kids, working a full time job and going to school.
I agree, the Microbiology Onine course at Ocean County College is terrific. It really answered my prayers and is helping me get through a tough semester. I am doing well so far!
Here is the course info:

Again, thanks for letting me know about this course,

I'm thinking of enrolling at OCC for microbio online. How did you take the college placement test since it is proctored?
Aneshka,
For the Ocean County College Online Microbiology course you don't need to take any college placement tests if you are not planning on taking more than 9 credits there. The exams in the course do not need proctors, they use a lock down browser instead.
Here is the website for the course.
To register call the Registration and Records Office at 732.255.0304.

Hey JerseyNUrsing girl!! The info you gave was helpful but can you explain how the course excatly went i mean were the test hard? did you have to get online at a certain time? what was your final grade if you dont mine me asking? Thank Nikki
Mikkirobbins21,
I am still taking the course and will be finished in May. I have an A so far. Test are all taken online giving you just enough time to finish them. The test questions are scrambled and you are allowed to take the mid term and final over the course of a few days with the lock down browser. I would have to say that the tests are very fair and straight forward. Quizzes are frequent and open book and are designed to drive us to the text book.
The professor focuses on the microorganisms that we will encounter in the real world day to day of a hospital. I really am learning a lot and it is the fun kind of learning about things we need to know about microbiology from real life situations.
I can't say enough good about the course and the professor. I got stuck with a question about the lab and the professor called me up on the phone and walked me through it.
I will let you know what my final grade is. I never thought that I would fall in love with an online science course because I always had to "really work at it" with science. If you try taking the 5 week course begining in May and ending in the end of June, you will really have to be on top of the course at least every other day. There are deadlines, but the best part for me is I can choose when I want to study and move things along. This is important when you work and are a single Mom.
Try it; you will not be sorry,
