Micro, AP I, and Chem for fall

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I've registered to take AP I, Microbiology, Chemistry for Health Sciences I for fall 2010. Do you guys think this is an overload? I'm also taking a one credit study skills class my school requires.

No, Its not an overload. Keep in mind it depends how well you know Chem and Micro before going in. Even if you have zero knowlege you will have to put alot more time and effort in. I took Chem and Micro at the same time, and it really wasnt that bad. Just keep up with the work and the reading and you will be fine.

That combination is not something I would do. I took my science classes one at a time and mixed them in with easier classes so I could pull off A's in both lecture and lab.

Wow. I thought two was an overload. ...but three???

I don't see how you could adequately retain the knowledge from all three courses by taking them together.

And I would think you would get a lot of material confused and mixed up. . . big time.

Not to mention you will be completely "burned out" from science courses by the time it's all over.

I do very well in school and I would not do that, but then again, I also have a kid and work full time while in school. That particular combination is not anything I personally would want to tackle. Good luck!

I took A&P1 and Micro during the same semester, but had taken Chem earlier (like 10 yrs earlier). I found that some of the info from one class would sometimes help me understand material from the other class. It wasn't overlapping information, just supplemental if you know what I mean. It helped me because I learn best by understanding the 'big picture."

On the other hand, I also studied harder for A&P than I ever had for any class I've ever taken. And that's saying something, because I had been in school a long time! But it definitely paid off because I was able to retain a lot of A&P AND Micro, which is the #1 thing that helped me in nursing school.

I wouldn't suggest taking all three, two is pushing it. All three of those classes require extensive memorization and lots of work. You will burn yourself out quickly.
