Anyone at Schoolcraft? Anyone???

U.S.A. Michigan

Hi,

I am just curious. I stop by the Michigan section here all the time and I never ever see anything about or anyone from Schoolcraft college.

I know people go there because of the huge waitlist...anyone????

I start the nursing program @ Schoolcraft next month!! I am excited! Met lots of nice students at the open house and toured the new building.

:yeah:

I go there - I am going into the second year. I have had a great experience so far (overall) and have really enjoyed it. The nursing instructors and staff are really top notch, I think.

I wish more people posted from Schoolcraft. I enjoy reading about HFCC and WCCCD, but not quite the same as your own school.

Are you attending currently or on the waiting list?

Specializes in Emergency Nursing; Geriatrics.

i'm a student at schoolcraft, but i have another two classes before i can get on the wait list. bio101 i'm taking this fall and a&p1 in the winter.

i've been waiting to see schoolcraft students on this forum as well!

Hi, i start the LPN program in a couple of weeks at scraft. I am one of three males in the class. Anyone else start LPN in September? I was originally scheduled for Fall of 2009 but I guess a few people dropped. I was happy to get in this year. I was in Fall of 2005 but had to drop because of certain reasons. That year I was bumped up as well, from 2006. That seems to happen in LPN class but not sure about the RN.

I start schoolcraft's nursing program in a couple of weeks as well. Who do you have as a teacher? Are you as nervous as I'am. I'm starting to freak out. What are your thoughts with everything??

adpeeka,

I have Mrs. Palmer. Heard they were all good. Who do you have?

I just finished Organic/Bio Chem today and my brain is fried! Can't think about starting for a little bit!!

Good luck to you!!

i am taking pre-reqs this year and hopefully can get into the LPN program fall 2009. good luck to you, i hope you post about your experiences!

Thanks. The pre-reqs are not that difficult. Just a basic A&P course and intro to health care. Both courses can be taken online. I would do the A&P I and II sequence (for RN), however that takes two semesters to complete. If you are trying to get on the list ASAP, then the basic course will do. Plus, it will give you a helpful overview of A&P if you have never taken it before. The worst is the waiting game, especially once the whole application and pre-reqs are completed. The wait may be the hardest thing, but I would rather apply and be put on a waiting list, than apply to a competitive program and have a chance of not being selected that year....or any year. Good luck

yep i'm doing intro to healthcare, a math and the bio and a&p online this year. when did you apply and how long did they say your wait would be (originally)? ie: when did you apply (month/year) to get in for fall 09?

i ask because i won't be able to apply until next year sometime and i'm hoping i can get in for fall 09.

My application was turned in and approved around September of 2007 for Fall 2009. I was notified March of this year that I would be starting this Fall. It ultimately depends on several factors. More or less people may drop off the list each year, just depends. I think if you turn in your application in January 2009, then you will be initially be set up for 2010. However, you can be bumped to the next class all the way until they start. If someone had to drop on September 1st, just two days before classes start, I believe they would do what they can to get another student in there.

Oh, and if you can, get all of your immunizations or titers completed ASAP so that if you are selected sooner you won't have to rush to get them all completed. I had that problem. Obviously the TB test and drug screen will have to be around the time of admit, so don't worry about them. I'm not sure about the time frame for the physical. Keep up with a CPR certification too.

PM me with anymore questions you have. I'll be glad to answer them if I can. I don't want to clog up this forum with LPN application process. LOL

GREAT advice!

I know that they admit all the way up to the first week of class. I was admitted early last fall (was supposed to start 2008) and I was notified in June, so I missed the orientation. I was somewhere around #30 on the list for 2008. I know someone who was all the way in the 50-60 range for 2008 that was called a week before school started last year. He managed to get everything in and started.

When you finish all your requirements for application, turn it in the day that grades are posted. I'm not sure if they still do this, but if more than one person applies on the same day, they take preference with GPA.

This is for the RN program, but I think it works the same way for LPNs as well.
