I would love some friends to keep me company as I try to escape from the books by my periodic blogging about my experiences.

Charlotte,

Are you currently a nursing student or pre-nursing student? I just got my acceptance letter for my nursing program a little over a week ago. I'm soo excited, I would love to have someone else to chat with! Hope all is well :)

I'm a pre-nursing student. I'll be done with my pre-reqs in December and will apply for nursing school in January. I'm also new to MI, so I would love to keep up with fellow nursing students in MI. Let us know when your blog is ready :)

SopranoKris,

Welcome to Mi! And congrats on your journey to becoming a nurse! So what brings you to MI? Most people are running from our state!..lol How long have you been pre-nursing? I had to wait two full years to get accepted into my program.

TLCmommy - Congrats on your acceptance! I received my acceptance letter on Monday, and can't wait to start! Where are you headed to?

Thanks, TLCMommyof3! My sweetheart brings me to MI. We're getting married in August, so I'm moving out there in the middle of May. School starts June 6th. I can't wait to get started! I had started on the path to becoming a nurse back in the late 80s/early 90s. Finished my Associates in Microbiology & Physics.

My fiancé asked me in February what I thought would make me happiest in a career. I said I never had the chance to pursue becoming an RN. He has encouraged me 100% since then to just focus on school. So, my last day of work will be May 15th. At the age of 42, I'm finally going back to school.

Since it's been 18+ years since I took most of my courses, I'm now required to re-take many of them (even though I already earned A's). I'll take Anatomy, Psychology, Phlebotomy & Healthy Lifestyles in the Summer. In the Fall, I'll be taking Physiology, Microbiology, Microbiology Lab, Pharmacology, Human Growth & Development and Phlebotomy Externship.

The program I want to get accepted in bases admissions on points only. So, no waiting list...however VERY competitive to get in (high GPA, experience in medical field, etc.) I'm taking the phlebotomy certification to get extra points for admissions and then I can do some part-time volunteering at the Red Cross for blood donations to get some additional points.

I won't be able to apply until January 2013 (March 1st is the deadline), so even if I do get accepted, I won't start nursing school until Fall 2013...hopefully! :D

What about you? Are you starting nursing school in the fall? Are you already a nursing student?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! Not only on your upcoming wedding but on going back to school! That is truly wonderful!!! :heartbeat

Hey everyone!

I'm glad I found this thread, I've been trying to get in contact with some MI nursing school students/hopefuls. I moved here recently from Ca and applied to Wayne State's traditional BSN program for Fall 2012. Anyone else out there waiting to hear back from Wayne?

Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials! I started back to school January 2009, It took me one year of pre-recs to get on my schools waiting list then another full year to finish my co-recs, and this past year I actually took some classes to go toward my BSN since I have been waiting to start my program. I'm married with three kids, ages 15, 9, 3 so I have only attended half time. I will start my nursing program in August, my first informational meeting is in two weeks so I will find out everything then. I am so excited to finally get to the interesting stuff! I was a dental assistant for 10 years and took off work after my second was born to be a stay at home mommy. Though I did enjoy the work I have always felt a calling toward nursing, I hope to be a surgical nurse, I truly enjoy watching surgeries. I can't wait to be working in the hospitals because strangely they feel like home to me!..lol Oh yea and I was born and raised in MI, I hope you love it here as much as I do! :)
