  1. I'm not sure about the second degree program, but the traditional is on July 10.
  2. Thanks so much for the post! I just checked and mine said admit also! See you in July! Congrats!
  3. Thanks everyone! Good luck to you too :)
  4. Got the interview!! Now it's time to really stress out! Does anyone have any tips about type of questions they ask? We only get ten minutes so I want to make sure I don't ramble! Thanks!
  5. Hey there WSU people, I just got notified I was invited for an interview for the traditional BSN program.. Anyone else out there? I'm ecstatic of course, but now the anxiety is starting to creep up. I was hoping someone could give me a hint about what type of questions they ask? Any information would help! Thanks!
  6. Well, the official waiting game is on now that math comp has been verified! Good luck to all you (hopefully) future-Wayne staters!
  7. This will be a challenging phase of your life, without question. I also struggled when I first started cc. In fact, I had such a hard time I had to give up for a while(not suggesting that of course). However you seem to be realistic about your chances and it seems that you know what your next step should be. Because of impaction at most ca schools you will have to have amazing teas scores ( no pressure) and fantastic amounts of volunteer hours, not to mention some sort of licensure/certification in a medically related field WITH a certain amount of hours worked in said field. I would also write a statement to include with your application about the mishaps on your transcript ( I'm pretty sure they don't ask for this but it might help you land the interview) and if you can travel somewhere to do volunteer work (ie Mexico) that would also give you a more of a fighting chance. About relocation; you should be very careful if you choose this route. I moved to Detroit with my fiancée when he started medical school thinking it would be easier to get into a BSN program in MI.. However alot of schools here favor their own students (people who Have taken their prerequisites at their university) first, gpa requirements are the same, but because of the large size of application pools, the cutoff is extremely high (4.0 in some schools like UofM). Plus, you have to work diligently to transfer your units and even then, some may not transfer the way you intend. Also, out of state tuition is ridiculous, so you really have to be committed because once your graduate, the debt you incur will be in is frightening. Another thing to consider is actually moving away from your support system. Just going off what you said about being depressed for a while, the act of moving that far away from people you know may be a challenge in itself. All in all, the path to nursing school is a long arduous one and for many it can become discouraging if you're not perfect along the way. My only advice is to try to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Also try to find a mentor, whether it be a current nursing student at you're desired school, or someone on this site, to help you along the way. I hope all goes well for you and good luck
  8. I did already send apologies for the outburst, but I have no problem with saying it again. It is best not to indulge in anger, so I can say honestly say sorry for all who have come across my own "venting session". My point, not stated as eloquently as is should have been, is that this forum should be a place where CONSTRUCTIVE feedback is welcomed and not bullying. Nurses have to deal with that at every turn, so why would you come to a place where it is okay to air one's grievances and harp on them? I understand life is not fair, and healthcare is not a basket of puppies.. But we should be able to support one another or politely agree to disagree. Professionalism and kindness should not be reserved for the workplace. We are all similar in that we chose a harsh career path and with that comes an extreme amount of stress. Why can't we remember that nurses, no matter what level, should be respected. As a previous poster mentioned: "why can't we all just get along"
  9. A much better way to convey my message, thank you. Apologies for the outburst.
  10. I have been reading your posts on AN for a while, and generally I just ignore your overly nasty and rude comments. But I must say that EVERY comment I have encountered about nurses being cruel and insensitive and basically just mean for the hell of it seems to apply to you. Everyone uses this forum as a much needed place to relieve some stress, for you to judge and sit on your high horse because your time in the profession is substantially longer is inappropriate. Ever heard the saying "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?" try living by it once in a while. Also if you're using this site to unload your rage on people because your job also requires you to at least pretend to be a decent human being, therapy would probably be more conducive. All in all, you should def SHUT UP.
  11. I has to email the advisor. I would need to schedule a flight in order to be in Detroit for an interview, so I asked when interviews are typically held. The woman said last year it began on June 5th and lasted for a week. I believe the orientation is held in july, but I could be wrong on that.
  12. I am currently taking math1050 right now. I know that the OSA is kinda of lacking motivation in terms of contacting you when certain paperwork doesn't go through ( I am a transfer from Ca, so I had a lot of paperwork to get sent in) I would suggest calling/emailing the admissions advisor responsible for you ( assigned by first letter of last name- can find out this info on CON website) . I have to turn in my transcript as soon as this class is done and then I'm officially playing the waiting game. Good luck with the math comp.! Hopefully you get scheduled for an interview also! :)
  13. I was told that interviews were going to be held first week of June.. I know it's a while away, but I can't stop thinking about it! I'm trying to practice interview questions but freaked myself out thinking,"it's too soon! You're being presumptuous! And now you won't even get an interview!" haha I'm my own worst enemy. Have you heard anything about the GPA for this application pool?
  14. Hey everyone! I'm glad I found this thread, I've been trying to get in contact with some MI nursing school students/hopefuls. I moved here recently from Ca and applied to Wayne State's traditional BSN program for Fall 2012. Anyone else out there waiting to hear back from Wayne?
  15. I am currently applying to WSU's traditional BSN program for Fall 2012. I moved here from CA and had to jump through a few hoops just to get my pre-reqs transferred.. I seriously got wayne-d haha, but I am also concerned about the gpa cutoff since it is so competitive. Does anyone know what the cutoff was for last year's application pool? I have also applied to u of d mercy but their waitlist is a bit longer than I am willing to wait.
