Michael J. Fox was my son's hero during the 80's, when he was growing up. He was shorter (like Fox) than the other kids, and, of course they taunted him mercilessly. When "Back to the Future" came out, I pointed out to him that being short hadn't stopped his hero from being a success. I don't know how many times Andrew watched that video after that, but it certainly helped to boost his self-esteem...and to ignore the bullies. He has grown up to be a successful software engineer and a doting father of one (soon to be two)....and I credit Michael J. Fox for being such an excellent role model. It is just a shame that he has had to become so sick, so early...=(
I agree 100% also...
I also read in an interview with him that in order for the committee to see how very badly this disease affects him he will not take his medication before testifying - moreso to illustrate in person how important funding needs to be available for patients who cannot afford to buy medication. I don't know of anyone else who would go so far to prove a point... what an incredible guy.
