Hello! Are there any MDCC nursing students out there?? I'm currently wrapping up my pre-req's at MDCC and will be applying to MDCC for their Accelerated ADN program for January of 2006. Is anyone currently enrolled in that program? Was it difficult to get in? What is your schedule like..(between class hours and rotations). And can you pick which hospital to do the rotations at? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi all!

Is there a waiting list in MDCC's nursing program? I am currently taking my pre-reqs at Broward Community College and thinking of transferring to Dade because BCC will not accept applications to the program until Jan 07 for the Aug 07 class.

Thanks!

Hey!! i just finished all my pre- reqs at MDC this passed semester. Ill be starting Nursing School at Barry university in Jan 2006 to gwt my BSN- RN. They have a really great program. You should check it out. They are expensive but hav e excellent financial aid. Tuition is $11,215 a semester but for whatever GPA you have they have academic scholorship. I have a 3.0 GPA so they took off like $4500 and because I will be a commuting student they took off another $1400. Good luck

Hi Yuca799,

I read your post and wondered if you have heard from MDC if you were accepted. I have another semester of pre reqs and will apply for fall '06. My GPA is 3.85 and Im hoping to keep it up there so I can get in and get in the Baptist Scholars program.

Anyway, hope you made it. Let us know.

And if anyone else has information to add that would be awesome.

Good Luck to you!!!! I hope you get in. You should apply to other schoold too.....Makes your chances higher but you do have a very good GPA!!!! Good Luck again!

Hi,

can anybody tell me how long is the accelerated program? When it starts, from january or May, or September?

Also, I checked their website, seems they want A&P I, II as pre-reqs. It that all? or you need to enroll and take more pre-req before you can get into real accerlated program? I have a BA degree, and will have A&PI, II ready by May. I also had Chemistry I last year.

Are you talking about Miami- Dade College? You're best bet to find out the right information and ALL OF IT is to call their nursing school. I wasn't even aware that MDC had an accelerated program. I am starting an accelerated program in January at Barry University. If you want more info about them just let me know. Good Luck

Yes, Miami Dade offers accelerated nursing program. I'm interested to know if there is a waiting list though

Hi Nathalie,

What pre-reqs you finished at MDC? IS it for AAS or AS? Is it hard to get in at Barry? I might check them this summer. Thanks!

I took all the pre-reqs that miami dade requires for for an Associates in Arts degree for Nursing since I am pursuing a Bachelor's degree. I also had to take a religion course since Barry is a private school and I had to take an upper division art class. Next semester I have to take Bio-medical ethics. All nursing school are hard to get into. Barry mostly looks at your science grades so if you have good grades in all your sciences class you have a pretty good chance. I was also accepted at UM but Barry is 5 minutes away from my house and they are also giving me scholarships. If yo need more info ask away. Good luck

Thanks for your quick response. I am currently taking my pre-reqs at BCC for ASN but the waiting time is ridiculous. I'm checking other schools maybe after I finish taking Micro next summer.

So far I'm doing good on my GPA and hoping to maintain it. I have one concern, we can't afford private schools and don't want to take student loans either. I'm keeping my options open. Thanks again and good luck to you :)

Dont put automatically disregard private schools because some of them give excellent financial aid such as Barry. They are taking care of half of my tuition because of my GPA and I only have a 3.14. If you have over a 3.5 you basically pay nothing. and thats only with grant because I dont qualify for FAFSA. If I would I would get ALOT ALOT more. My best friend applied and she basically didnt have to pay for anything. good luck
