RNintheMakin,

Any word yet from the school?

Hey FSU! SEE I told ya not to worry! LoL Are you excited? I have not heard anything from MDC..I called earlier today and was able to find out that I got into their Phlebotomy Progrm for the Spring of 09-So that's pretty cool, I can get some hands on experience with patients while I wait to hopefully start Nursing School with Dade in the Fall of 09'... I'm not sure if letters are still going out but I figured I probably didnt get in for the spring since I have yet to get anything in the mail.

RN just wait for it ok. Either way I find out how I did on that exam now on Tuesday. I am excited to see whether I passed or not. If not then I will get it together. Now I know the format, and I will approach it differently. I am very excited about everything. It is hard but I loved working with the patients. I am doing clinicals in the nursing home and these people that can not even talk, really got to be. They are totally dependent like babies. You have to bathe them and feed them. It is really a special experience to see these people at there weakest moment, and to help them. I really loved the experience. I would even work with Hospice if I can try it.

My point is Nursing school is not about grades, but it is a lot about learning to be a good nurse. Its a lot about beautiful experiences and learning about being there for people. Its great. I hope I don't get burned out though. LOL!

Butterfly, I think that is sooo wonderful! I'm very happy to hear about all of your experiences and it makes me want this even more! I love reading all of your posts about Nursing school! I wish you the best of luck and I know you will be a GREAT Nurse.

I hope so too. If you are patient and work hard at it you will be there one day too. You will see how wonderful it is. I love where I am and I know you want it really bad. You will see that you will get there. And it will be wonderful, and hard too. I just try to look at it on the nice side.

True. Well I'm excited about starting the Phlebotomy Program in the spring. I can finally start getting some Hands on experience!

That is so true. you will start seeing what its all about. And you will love it. Believe me.

Heyyy butterfly,

What book did you say you use to help you with Fundamentals? You said Fundamental Success? or something

Yes. Sorry about that. I over looked the question. Fundamentals Success. They sell it at the bookstore. It is an awesome book.

The best book by far for critical thinking and test strategies for nursing students is "Test Success-Test Taking Techniques for Beginning Nursing Students by Patricia M. Nugent and Barbara A. Vitale. I strongly encourage all first year students to utilize this book as a means to prepare them for exams in nursing school

Hi. I was accepted in the Transitional/Bridge Nursing program, and was wondering if you could please help me with something. I wanted to know if you would recommend doing the nursing program online. Do you feel the online nursing program is fairly easy? Did you continue to work? How hard is the first semester? Do you think it gets harder towards the ending? Do the instructors give power points? Do you take the exams online or in class?

Thanks in advance

Since it is so important to grasp everything in nursing I would recommend everything on campus. I think nursing is very hard, but the first semester is doable. Everyone has said it get a lot harder as you go along. The critical thinking on test is very difficult to get use too. The instructors do use powerpoints, but it is up to you to go in depth on the information, and to follow the curriculum.
