Hi all!
I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)
Hi I finished my prerequisites back in Dec.. I was going to apply to the program for Fall 2014....but because I'm a full time student, worker, and Mom lol I didn't have much time to study for the exam. So this summer I chose to not take any classes to give me more time to study for the NlN so that I can apply to the program for spring 2015
Hi and welcome! I am glad you found this thread. Like I have said to the other members, we all need to support and help one another through this process. I am excited you decided to post and I think you will find that we all have a lot in common. I too am a mom (of two), as well as the other members, and we all know how hard it can be to find time to study. Where do you stand as far as studying? I just started the Physics portion last night.

I am currently on section A... I want to start the science portion around mid July....I'm trying to find more vocab words I feel like that will be my weakness. Yes it's always good to have a support system. Thanks for any information you can provide and I hope I can be help to others as well.
Ariel, one of my friends suggested to go to Freerice.com and take their vocab quizzes. She suggested to start with a high level, possibly around 14 and build from there. She also mentioned that there wasn't a lot of vocab on the actual exam that she took, mostly reading comprehension. I know the questions are computer generated, so regardless, we need to study for it because we don't know what questions we will be asked. Anyway, I hope this helps...back to studying :0)
Ariel, I was actually going to post about this tonight when I finished my errands. I called MDC today and they told me that the NLN is not a requirement at this time. I checked the Nursing site and sure enough, it corresponds with what I was told. They will use our science gpa (60% weight) and cum overall gpa (40% weight) to make their decision. I cannot tell you how upset I was when I found out. However, now I am wondering if this is a blessing in disguise. What do you think?
