Miami Dade College Spring 2015 RN Program

U.S.A. Florida

Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

Hey!!! Thanks for the update. I was also told the same about the dates to sign up for the exam. I am not sure why one advisor hinted at the idea that the exam may be switched. Either way, we have to stay on top of the latest requirements and weed out the rumors. I know you must be overloaded with those two classes. I understand you when you speak about finding time to study with kids. I have two of my own and NO HELP WHATSOEVER!!! Anyway, I hope you are progressing with the exam guide. I am headed to bed to study a bit more because the kids are in bed :bookworm:

Im so excited that this thread was started. Im applying spring 2015. I want to take the nln pax in August. Study for rest, along with taking 3 classes, and taking care of three boys is difficult.

Welcome Ayoka04! I am so excited that you are posting on this thread. I hope we can all help each other get through this moment in time as successfully as possible. Looks like all of us have little ones, in addition to our school work load. I know it can be tough, but remember that people before us have done it, and do can we. What classes are you currently taking? Where do you stand with the study guide and your studying so far?

Im taking Microbiology Lecture, Intro to Health care, and Human Growth and Development. Im TRYING to study the vocabulary portion of the test.

Welcome Ayoka

Im taking micro also at interamerican campus, and I dont know about you but for me its a little bit tough. Just had my first test and I didnt do well, but we are just in the beginning of the semester. Also im taking psychology and 2 years old boy ( which he doesnt stop).

Wow! Are all of your classes lecture, or are some of them online?

Lilian, Micro was very difficult. It wasn't so much the material covered that was challenging, but the amount of material we covered each class. I took it on Sat. with Micro lab (back to back) and I was in school from 9-4. I wanted to jump off of a bridge, but I got through it. Are you taking the Lab too? I had to prepare a scientific report for an unknown bacteria, which required me to do staining, along with many other tests (inoculations) to identify the bacterium I was given. It was extremely detailed and interesting work.

I know how you must feel about the test, but like you said, it was the first one. You will do fine in the end. Fingers crossed!

As for me, I am isolating myself from the world (so to speak) and trying to buckle down and get some studying done for the NLN. As of now, I am on the Basic Chemistry portion. Anatomy was mostly review of specific details. It consisted of a lot of physiology, but for all of us, it's mostly a review. Anyway, back to the grindstone for me! :yeah:

Remember, keep your head up and don't let one test get you down. We have a long road ahead :)

Im taking Microbiology online, which is tough. Intro to health care and Human Growth im taking on campus

Ayoka, that is tough. Well, if I can be of any assistance to you, please let me know. I took Micro last Fall, and I remember the quantity of information we were required to know.

I am still studying the science portion of the NLN exam. I started with math and decided to give myself a break and focus on something else. The math isn't difficult, it is just making sure you remember all of the rules and shortcuts.

I have been following another MDC RN thread for all of the students applying for the 2014 Fall RN Program. Today MDC sent their first batch of acceptance e-mails, and so many of the students were accepted. I am so thrilled for them, and excited that we are the next group to be in their shoes!

Hi Sperkyperk!!

Sorry for not writing recently, i have been extremely busy. Thank you for all your nice words in the last message and all your support. I know we will be in the same boat as them in a couple of months. Im so scared of the test, you dont even imagined im those kind of persons that have test amxiety but everything will be fine. Do you know their average test score amd gpa of the ones that just got accepted?? Please if you know more info let me know!!!!

When I have a chance real soon, I will put together some info in regards to their GPA's and NLN scores as a reference for us. Don't worry about the test. I spoke to one of my friends today who was accepted into the transitional program, and she couldn't stress enough the fact that I need to make sure I am able to do all of the tests in the book faster than the time allotted. She said the exam isn't that difficult, but rather the amount of time given to complete each section. So time sounds like the killer here. Anyway, I will get that info you asked for as soon as I can. For now, we all have to relax and do the best we can to retain all of this information.

Oh, and by the way, you are welcome for the support. We all need to support one another. This is only the beginning for us, but it is just as crucial as the middle and the end. This is where our careers start! We will all do well...have faith in what is meant to be.
