Miami Dade College (MDC) Fall 2012 Full-time/Part-time Nursing program

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.

I will start:

I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)

Yeah, I only applied for part-time. Unfortunately, I have to continue to work while I go through the program. I know it will take longer and it will be very difficult but I am very committed to this and will do whatever it takes.

Yeah, same here. I applied to all 3 tracks for whatever reason but can really only do part-time since I need to work as well. Good luck!

Has anyone spoken to the advisors recently to get a sense of when they're expecting to let people know? I know it's only been a week, but figured I'd ask lol. I'm sure they don't have a clue....I just hate this wait :)

The advisor I spoke to suggested that I start checking by the third week of May in order to give them enough time to go through the applications.

Right now I am sitting at the medical campus office waiting for an advisor. I couldn't wait in my house for that email. I ll let you guys know what they said!!!!!

If you have any specific question I can ask it for you just let me know in the next 20 min

Welcome and good luck Dany! If you don't mind, could you share your scores and which track you're applying to. Thanks!

If you can maybe ask what would be a comfortable competitive score of getting in? They'll probably say it depends but it's worth a try. Thank!

Dany is you could just ask 'round about when they will begin notifying us, we would all appreciate it!! :0)

Yeah....what they said :) roundabouts when they might be notifying us, and/or what they're seeing as competitive scores. ANY info is better than nothing! Lol

Hey everyone, congrats on your application process! I know that waiting is torture, I've been there...TWICE (got in for Fall, couldn't accept and re-applied for Spring). Both times, the wait was approximately 6 weeks. I knew this and still checked my e-mail several times a day after I applied LOL, but it doesn't look like that will be changing anytime soon.

They not only upload all the application information by hand into their systems, but I believe they go through the process of re-checking each application to verify that all pre-requisites have been completed. My guess is that they don't exactly have a team of 20 people working on this, so it takes awhile for whoever is working on it to get it done, in addition to whatever their normal job duties are.

Also, advisors usually don't give out specific information about cutoff scores because it can be a rapidly moving number. Often the cutoff score between the last person on the list and the first reject can be just 1/10th of a point, and a large influx of very high/low scores on the last day apps are accepted can bump up/down where the cutoff line had been previously. They won't know until the acceptance lists are actually generated where the cutoff score falls, and even then it will go down because of people (like me for Fall) who turn their spots down. They don't need a bunch of panicked people showing up fresh off their rejection e-mails saying "But you said I would probably get in!" Honestly, I can't say I blame them.

So take a nice deep breath and I promise, the moment of truth will get here. Much success to you all! :w00t:

Zepp - thanks for that. I have read up on the threads for those who got in last fall and this spring, and I still want to know ASAP LOL. Do you think it would be worthwhile to call the advisors and double check to make sure everything is ok with my application (or anyone checking on their own, of course)?

Thanks Zepphead,

I understand about advisors giving out info and then coming back to bite them in the butt. I can't blame them either. I have a question for you though......About how much (ballpark figure) did your first semester cost, total including tuition, books, and equipment?

Thanks!

And for everyone else, you can set your MDC email to be forwarded to one of your main email accounts. That's what I did so I'm not constantly checking the MDC account.
