Miami Dade College Fall 2015 RN Program

Published

Hey guys,

I figured I should share what I know about the Fall 2015 application so far.

So far this is what I know:

  1. Spring 2015 students do not need an entrance exam - let's see if they keep it this way for Fall 2015 applicants
  2. There will be a mandatory SOS Pre Nursing Bootcamp that will need to be attended upon acceptance to the program.
  3. I called advising today (7/7/14) the receptionist said I should start applying in January, but I'll confirm that once again before then.
  4. 60% sciences and 40% cumulative GPA is still the criteria as far as we know.

I figured this should be a great place for us to share our anxiety about our apps and build some friendships :).

Do you still have those books?

no sorry, but they are very affordable on amazon. the health assessment and old skills book are like $10 there. good luck everyone. if you want to get a head start on your classes, you can check out mdc's ponopto website, some teachers record and post their lectures there. :)

Hi everyone,

I am new here :( Any one has some info about the nursing boot camp?

The boot camp consist of several days of orientation. They will introduce you to the nursing department staff and maybe a few professors. Go in with a positive attitude and try to mingle with a few peers. We attended an 8hr test taking strategy workshop at the Wolfson campus. Luckily I brought along my tablet to keep me entertained lol. They will not provide you with lunch so make sure you bring a few snacks. A few of us walked to bayside for lunch (like a 5 minute walk). They will allow you to register once orientation is over so I suggest you bring a laptop or mobile device. The good clinicals go fast every semster. I waited up at midnight during every registration just to get the clinicals I wanted.

Hey guys .. For those of you that took your pre requisites from another institution do you know if you have to take the chem 1033. I took mine at USF , chem 1045 and 1046 and it seems as if they want me to re do it and Miami dade.

Chm1033 is chemistry for health sciences. Chm1045 and 1046 are General chemistry courses. So you will have to take chm1033. I was in the same boat

By some beautiful, amazing miracle, I've been accepted to the Full Time program in the last minute. Whoever gave up their seat so I could be admitted... Thank you!!!!!!

wow!! that's a miracle. Thank God that it happened. Good luck with your paperworks now that you have less time to get them done.

Has anyone who's been accepted already starting looking for or buying uniforms, stethoscope and other things we'll need?

yes ! i repeat do not buy anything in that bookstore ! except for the bag thats 100 dollars. Go across the street of the school theres a nursing uniform store. it sells our uniforms with the logo on it same brand for half the price ! and they sell good brand stethoscopes too as well as cheap ones and the lab coat they sell it there too for only 15 dollars , same price as the scrub pants

are you doing bridge or generic? They have a set of uniform $99 at medical MDC bookstore.

@iconquer Since I missed the orientation I have to meet with an administrator to catch up on all the info.

@sdelgado Thanks for the help! How many full uniforms sets are you getting?

@sweetsole Generic Full Time
