Miami Dade College Fall 2015 RN Program

Published

Hey guys,

I figured I should share what I know about the Fall 2015 application so far.

So far this is what I know:

  1. Spring 2015 students do not need an entrance exam - let's see if they keep it this way for Fall 2015 applicants
  2. There will be a mandatory SOS Pre Nursing Bootcamp that will need to be attended upon acceptance to the program.
  3. I called advising today (7/7/14) the receptionist said I should start applying in January, but I'll confirm that once again before then.
  4. 60% sciences and 40% cumulative GPA is still the criteria as far as we know.

I figured this should be a great place for us to share our anxiety about our apps and build some friendships :).

How to get the W removed?!? I have a cum gpa 4.0 and a W on a science class! Now I'm freaking out

You have to go to the office of the Dean and ask them for the forgiveness policy. Good luck.

People lets pretend we get into the program. What is the first thing you will do when you get your acceptance notice?

Cry!!!, tell the whole family, and freak out cause that means I will have to quit my job by August. Are you guys going to work while in the program?

Me too. I have a really good job right now but I can not go to school and work at the same time.

Are you going to freak out when you quit your job? Why?

Probably freak out and jump for joy as I re-read the email two-three times just to make sure I read correctly. LoL

If you haven't already done so, start putting away a significant amount of money into a savings account to cover the main expenses while in the program. You might lessen some of the stress those initial months knowing you've got x amount of monthly expenses covered. Before I went on maternity leave last year I did that and I had such peace of mind knowing the essentials were covered for that time.

I don't plan on working so I could dedicate fully to school, but if that's not possible then I will just get a part time with little hours so that school remains a priority.

Yes I have been saving, also I called financial aid and they say I qualify for 9500 in federal loans that I can get to help with the year expenses

Are u guys taking classes this summer to keep mind occupied? I'm taking sta2023, syg2000 and enc1102

Specializes in Surgical transplant.

Yes, this summer I'll be taking care of some of those bsn requirements. Taking intro to psych online and nutrition online. I would have to do stats alone, cause math is my weakest subject. I'm planning on doing that after I graduate from the ASN and once that's done I can apply to bsn programs. At least, that's the plan.:cautious:

Yes, I am also taking a class this summer. I'm taking SYG2000 online.

I'm taking syg2000 in person cause I heard is really hard online, the quizzes are horrible and too much reading. I found a good professor on campus.
