Miami Dade College Fall 2015 RN Program

Published

Hey guys,

I figured I should share what I know about the Fall 2015 application so far.

So far this is what I know:

  1. Spring 2015 students do not need an entrance exam - let's see if they keep it this way for Fall 2015 applicants
  2. There will be a mandatory SOS Pre Nursing Bootcamp that will need to be attended upon acceptance to the program.
  3. I called advising today (7/7/14) the receptionist said I should start applying in January, but I'll confirm that once again before then.
  4. 60% sciences and 40% cumulative GPA is still the criteria as far as we know.

I figured this should be a great place for us to share our anxiety about our apps and build some friendships :).

What was your gpa?

I think that with MDC is a matter of luck. They are very disorganized. Some students receives denied letters and then a month later an acceptance letter. I was denied. I'm going to apply for the second time and after this I'm done with them. Got me sick to my stomach. lol.

They basically told us that a couple weeks ago they decided to open 24 more seats for the program, which is why some people received rejection letters and then later acceptance letters.

@Lurdes777 Hi, the MDC wellness clinics do the titers, drug screen, Tb screenings and student health form as a student package for $225 that's where most of us did it

Congrats to all of who have gotten in like me. Looking forward to seeing you all on the 24th. Going crazy over here with all the paper work

Thank you Sasha! I will go on Monday.

Lurdes77 I had only one B in my sciences and my commutative was 3.05. Congratulations

Accorales, its strange that you had denial letter first. Maybe because your cum. gpa was a little on a lower side. My sciences was 3.8 and cum. 3.5.

Thank you for the suggestion above about MDC welness clinic. I made appointment for Monday. Although, the girl on the phone gave me all kinds of negative about not getting results on time.

I also found CPR course close to home and AHA certified.

URGENT

Where did you all purchase your uniform? Bookstore or the store outside medical bldg? What about white top for clinicals? Any advise on the books?

Gosh I am running around like a crazy chicken without head...

I purchased mine at the store by the medical campus (white top, lab coat also) and the books online (amazon), way cheaper than the book store. Amazon has a free 2-day shipping promotion for students. You just need to sign up for "amazon prime"

What about the lab coat we used for chem and micro labs? Not good? And also green scrubs have to have embroidery, that means only can buy at the bookstore?

Did you guys purchase nursing bag? Is it a must?

the uniform and lab coat are exactly the same thing (embroidery). I haven't purchased the nursing bag yet; I believe it's required
