Hi, I was wondering if anyone has applied to the MGHIHP new accelerated BSN program? If so, what do you think your chances are of being accepted?

Has anyone here submitted the waiver for the 5 year limit on the pre-reqs? and gotten in? if so what was your explanantion?

I wanted to apply to this program, but I took some of the pre-reqs 12-14 years ago. I have been working as a veterinarian technician in a surgical setting and wonder if I suggest I am using that information every day and dont really need a refresher?

Just wondering if anyone else got away with it:)

Hi every one! im hoping I get in the direct entry program for fall 09

Hi there,

I just put in my applications for the accelerated BSN nursing program at MGH. I was just wondering if anyone else has applied or is currently in the program. I'm very nervous about my chances of getting in. I graduated from NU in 2004 with a GPA of 2.53 and I went on to work as a medical assistant at MEEI where I worked til 2008. My science grades are so, so, but I had 3 great recommendation letters and a good essay. I am hoping my work at MEEI will be a positive aspect of my application as well. If you have any opinions, i would love to hear them!

Hi there i was just wondering if you ended up applying to the BSN program for the May 2009 entry. I turned in my application material last week...

Im applying for the direct entry program for fall 2009. I turned in my application like a while ago... I know i'm way early. did you graduate from a four year college?

Gooood luck! I am in the program now...be prepared to work your butt off....But its great. since this is the first year they are still ironing out some wrinkles, but it should be even more fantastic for next years class...

again, good luck!

Hi Colleen,

I've read your posts from last year...the group thread was interesting. I am just so nervous about not getting in. I called about it and was told they received over 400 applicants this year and there are only 50 seats available. My GPA is not great (2.53), but I have about four years of clinical experience as a research assistant on my shoulders. My recommendation letters were great....so I don't know. What do you think? I keep over analyzing everything now...like my essay wasn't good enough or my science grades were too low. It could go either way. I'm wicked paranoid now. I was told we wont know til the end of December...this is going to drive my crazy. When did you get your letter?

So you'll be graduating from the program in June 2009?...Im so excited for you. Are there 50 students in your class now? Pretty diverse group?

Hi cheris don't be nervous... you did what you can and what ever happens I think you'll still be alright.

Thanks for the encouragement Darkallstar! I just want to get the whole thing over with. I hate the anticipation...

Hi!

I am also applying for next year's Accelerated BSN program. Graduated from NU in 2006 and I'm hoping to head back up to Boston for some more school. Also applying to Simmons' Direct MSN program and UMASS' Accelerated BSN.

After reading through everyone's posts I'm really excited, but also super nervous!! I still have to cram the chem prereq in if I get into MGH. At the info session, they said we don't need labs for that course - anyone know of any online courses that would be acceptable?

I'm also wondering too how everyone who is in the program went about paying for it. I believe the tuition alone for the next class is at $41,000.00. But since it's so intense it doesn't seem possible to work so I would need to somehow come up with about $55,000 or so just to have money to pay my rent for those 14 months..I wish I could hit the lottery! :(

hi everyone,

I applied to the accelerated BSN at MGH for 2009. Does anyone know when we are supposed to find out if we got in? I'm so nervous! This is the only program i've applied to so far. I had to take all the prereqs and a lot of other programs require other prereqs so i can't apply anywhere else as of yet!
