MGH IHP DE NP 2019

Published

I didn't see a thread for this year's IHP direct-entry NP applicants, so figured I'd create one. Anyone else applying this cycle?

Are they going to email us? Did I already ask this? haha

It's been via email every other year so that is likely how we will find out also.

I thought they said somewhere decisions are made 6-8 weeks from the application deadline (could have been from past forums though to be honest, I'm confusing what I've read directly from MGH IHP and from past forums) so hopefully by Tuesday? I really hope it won't take all the way until 3/8. ?

I have a deposit due on March 1st for another program so I'm going to call again today to ask!!

Hi!

I am in the same boat. Waiting impatiently

I am from Boston, applied to a few local programs

Let us know if they give you a more definitive timeline!

Accepted at BC (with a scholarship ?) and waitlisted at Northeastern!

I ‘ve heard that BC is great, and the program is shorter. I visited the campus too and loved it. Unfortunately their application deadline was early, so I could not apply in the fall.

How about Northeastern? Has anyone heard anything about their program?

I went to admitted student day for BC on Saturday and it just validated how strongly I felt about the program and how devoted the faculty are to student success!

I’m kind of happy I was waitlisted at Northeastern because I was planning on turning down my spot anyway. I’ve consistently heard that the program is disorganized, but primarily Im not a fan of how long the program ends up being. They require around a year of working as an RN before you start the masters portion, but I was told that you are eligible to take some masters level classes while you’re working. Apparently the majority of direct entry students complete the masters portion part time, which, if you don’t mind how long it takes you to get to the finish line then this is a non factor!

Personally, I never planned on moving to the city (I live about 40 minutes out currently) so the idea of having to drive into Boston everyday for classes as well as clinicals isn’t attractive to me. (Also a slight deterrent for MGH, but in my head when I was ranking my “favorite” programs in the area I preferred MGH over Northeastern). For me, BC is perfect because I would only have to drive into the city twice a week for clinical instead of everyday. Their application deadline thankfully wasn’t a biggie for me because I had everything ready to apply to Yale’s program (deadline was October 1st). I got waitlisted at Yale and accepted my spot on it, but honestly if I were to get off the waitlist I probably wouldn’t attend due to the cost of the program and having to relocate.

Overall, there aren’t really any “bad” programs, it’s all about preference and feasibility!

Thank you so much for your feedback!

Congrats! Definitely a good choice! And their location is a plus!

I have been accepted at Simmons and just need to hear from MGH to finalize my decision.

I’ve heard a lot of great things about Simmons! Congrats!

I didn’t apply because they only offer FNP.

MGH is the last program I need to hear back from, also ?

For all those still waiting: I just got my acceptance, so all decision should come out soon.

I got my email! CHECK YOUR EMAILS EVERYONE!

I'm in for pediatrics!!!!

I'm in for psych!
