Hi! Is anyone else gearing up to apply to the MGH direct-entry MSN program beginning in 2012? I'm currently completing my pre-reqs at bunker hill community college. I'm also studying for the GRE and will be taking in a few weeks, as well as at the end of July. I'm super nervous but eager to apply. MGH is my top choice, but I'm also gonna apply to other programs in MA. I really wanna do a MSN program because I want to be a nurse practictioner. Anyone else in the same boat?
Hi Kelnikki, congrats and welcome!
I have lived in Boston for 7 years. It is my impression that, while the MGHIHP doesn't rank terribly high nationally, the school does have quite an excellent reputation around Boston. The handful of people I know who went through the program are all very successful NPs, and all say they've liked their experience at MGHIHP.
We'll be classmates! =)
I just found out i've been accepted to MGH's program! I'm so excited, MGH has been my #1 all along :) I learned of my acceptance through a financial aid email ( I have yet to receive my acceptance letter via postal mail but they said it should be here sometime this week). I applied to the Acute Care specialty so I am assuming that is the track i've been accepted to. I can't wait to get out to Boston and visit. Hopefully we will get word of an accepted students day soon. Congrats to those accepted so far and good luck to those still waiting!
My roommate read me my letter. No mention of merit scholarships but it was for a position in Adult/Gerontology, which was what I applied for. So happy to hear finally. I loved MGH's location, school, program. Does anyone know when the program starts?? Good luck to those still waiting for letters/emails.
@pianoman223 - it does indeed look like we'll be classmates, thanks so much for the feedback :)
i'm so excited for what's to come, but nervous to relocate as well - are there any other folks from the bay area on this feed? if so, i'd love to meet you!
to those in boston - i'm thinking of making a trip out the first week of april to visit the campus and get a feel for the school/faculty/students. meanwhile, i'd also like to get a taste of the city thru a local's eyes. i've visited a handful of times but am by no means acquainted with anything non-visitor oriented. do you have any suggestions in terms of more local-oriented places to eat and things to do/see? also, in terms of housing options, what neighborhoods should i check out? thanks in advance!!
@Kelnikki
My suggestion: Make a post on Chowhound.com's Boston board - we are an excellent group of people :) and will give you some great food recommendations (provided you give them some specifics of what you want!) :)

hi folks - congrats to all! i'm new to this thread but i just received my acceptance to FNP today and was shocked and thrilled!! i applied to MGH because i heard a lot of positive things about the program, but being that i live in san francisco, there aren't a lot of NP's who can speak to the school's reputation in the industry. for those of you on the east coast and boston, what's the general consensus? any and all info/advice/insight would be most appreciated - thanks so much! :)
