MGH BSN Summer 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Is anyone else applying to the MGH Accelerated BSN program for Summer 2015? How is everyone feeling about it??

Hey everyone,

I applied and all my app status says complete for official review as of 11/21. This is actually my second time applying to MGH. I applied last year and got accepted but waitlisted, but I guess since there was so many of us on the waitlist and they don't do it by numbers or anything, I ended up getting moved off by like July. So, I'm hoping since I am re-applying that will help me to get a full admission for next summer. We shall see :)

Best of luck to you all!

@brunettebelle, did you have outstanding prereqs at the time of application last year?

Hello Everyone, I applied late last month. I'm excited to hear back. I've just received acceptance to NYU, but am waiting to hear from other schools for financial reasons. NYU is crazy expensive, and cost of living would be insane. Does anyone have any information on when we should hear back about our admissions decisions from MGH? Best wishes to everyone

I believe it should be between Christmas time and the third week of January

Hey lagirl_1989

I believe I had maybe one pre-req not done yet but no more than that. Hope that helps :)

@SKay226- I think your right. If I remember correctly they contacted us mid-Jan of this year for the 2014 admissions so should be probably around the same time I assume.

Hey SKay226,

If you went into the ASN program, how long would it take you to complete the program assuming you have everything completed accept the nursing courses? I was contemplating about going this route but it seems that it would take even longer to end up with only an associates. Thanks.

It would take two full years...With no classes in the summer. Since I have a Bachelors already I could to an RN to BSN in less than a year after that. I'd come out with no debt at all though and could work full time. It stinks but it'll be less stress in the end. I'm also open to working wherever I can with an ASN

@lagirl_1989 I just checked mine and all it says is "submitted" and "application is complete for review" as of right now

@hughhugh @Skay226 I've thought about doing the ASN option too if I don't get into a BSN program but I really want to work in a hospital so I don't know if it will be the best option for me. A nurse on the unit I volunteer at says she knows someone who has been a nurse for 27 years and has critical care experience but Faulkner wouldn't hire her since she doesn't have a bachelor's.

Skay- which RN to BSN programs are you looking at?

@bostonnrshpfl. mine's says the same thing. i am all keeping the ADN option and doing RN-BSN immediately afterwards in the back of my mind as well.

I'm not actively looking...taking things step by step right now. If I get into MGH and it's cheaper than Simmons I'll re evaluate. I also hope to work in a hospital but I'm only 24 and not in a rush anymore. My final goal is to be an NP so an ABSN would make more sense logically, just not financially at the moment.

@lagirl_1989 I keep checking mine but I think they will send us an email closer to the time. I'm hoping maybe they'll finish early :)

@Skay226 Makes sense, we'll all get to where we want to be eventually! What type of NP do you want to be?

Hello! I applied for the Spring (January) 2015 start and was waitlisted! I had to make the decision to stay on the waiting list, or to re-apply for Summer 2015 start! (you may not have two active applications at one time unfortunately.) I have applied for Summer 2015 and I am PRAYING I get accepted this time around. MGHIHP is my number one choice, number two is UMass Amherst, which is where I got my bachelors degree. Does anyone know if previously waitlisted applicants have a good chance!?

Good luck everyone!!
