600 mg Ibuprofen & 325 mg vicodin?

hello,

I'm new, but i used to look through this site a lot when i was taking a CNA course, and figured this would be the best place to ask this question...

Two days ago, my tooth started hurting...I made an appointment with my dentist, but he can't see my until Tues...

yesterday, i woke up in almost unbearable pain. I bought some advil and started taking 600 mgs every 3-4 hours...I also began taking vicodins that i had left over from a surgery (i know, i know, i didn't have them for the tooth ache, but-).

My question is, is this too much? I take 600 mg of advil every four hours, and in between i'll take a vicodin...so, at 12 i'll take the advil, at 2 ill take the vicodin, and at 4 i'll take the advil again ,etc...

I really hate using this much medication, but the pain is that bad...i have had no problems thus far (it's been a bit more than 24 hours since i started this ccycle) and my appointment is a little less than 24 hours from now...

I eat toast or something similar before each pill and either lay down, or sit at my comp...

also, my cat strached me two nights ago, and the scratch is either not getting better, or possibly getting worse? Could that be the ibuprofen and/or hydrocodone keeping it from healing?

Thanks a million in advance.

If you're feeling that much excruciating pain you need to go to an emergency room where you will receive a complete assessment by a competent physician who will provide you with safe and legal pain management as well as consider other possible sequelae such as infection. No-one on this board is qualified or allowed to give you medical advice.

I am not trying to offend you or be callous to your needs. In fact, I am trying to make sure you get the best care.

I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for your reply, i would've gone to the er yesterday, but i don't have any insurance and my family is already struggling with money and bills...I absolutely understand why no one can give me medical advice, but i want to thank you anyway...

The ER will treat you without insurance. They won't turn you away when you tell them you can't pay. When the bill comes you just make payment arrangements. Hospitals accept what you can pay as long as you make an ongoing effort to clear the bill.
