Mesa community college nursing schedules

Published

I applied to the Maricopa colleges nursing program, and put 3 choices the MCC morning and afternoon traditional sessions. I also added the chandler/Gilbert campus as one of my options. I wanted to know if any current students could post schedules for the first block. I'm hoping to start spring 2016.

I've got 4 kids ages 5-11 so I totally understand. I love the program but it is a LOT of work. You will have pretty much zero free time but you CAN do it! You will need a ton of help from family and friends and have to make this program your priority.

MCC morning was my first choice but when I applied, there was only one other campus they were doing NAU through at that time. I have no idea when my time stamp was but it's irrelevant anyways because I initially didn't plan on doing the CEP so I waited on the wait list for a bit before I applied for the CEP program.

Thank you for sharing all, your posts actually gave me hope too because I'm a mom as well, I have 3 kids ages 3, 5, 7 and I'm so

anxious about nursing school.

Do you have an idea about how flexible they are with clinical hours?

I'll put my kids to a before-school program, the program starts at 6:30 am, thatmmeans I can't be there for the clinical at 6:30, I wonder if they'll be willing to work with mothers in my situation & have me start at 7:00 instead of 6:30. Any idea? any one?

Thanks a bunch

Hello! I'm not sure about other programs but ours has set clinical hours and you have to be there at that specific time. We do not have make-up time for clinicals either. From my understanding, the schools make agreements with the hospitals for clinical hours and that's all they can get. I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear but maybe other schools are more lenient. Do you have family that could drop them off for you? Good luck! I have a 2 year old and finding childcare is so stressful sometimes especially with such an erratic schedule and having to leave the house sometimes before 5 am for clinical.

No, it is not flexible. If your start time is 6:30 you better be there at 6:30. If your kids extended day doesn't start til 6:30 then you need to look at other options for them. There is no flexibility for clinical days or times.

Same here! My kids are so tired on my clinical days having to get up and out of the house so early!

Is clinical once or twice a week at MCC? I know from others that at SCC it's once a week.

if it's twice, it will make it even harder for me :banhappy:

I think they try to do once a week but it really depends on what spots they can secure with the clinical sites and that varies semester to semester. You have to become "nursing school flexible" which means, be ready for anything ;)
