Hi everyone, I applied to Merritt College for the fall of 2016 and unfortunately I did not see the previous posts about the program's issues until recently. However, the negative reviews about the school are well over 5 years old. If you are currently in the program or a recent graduate, what is your opinion about the program and professors? Have they improved over the last few years or do they still have students failing/dropping left and right? Any information and advice would be greatly appreciated :)

I applied as well, has anyone heard anything back yet?

Hello,

I received a letter yesterday indicating that I met their requirements and I was moved to the next stage of the process. The next step entails submission of TEAS V scores. They are going to offer the TEAS V in early May. I've already taken the TEAS, so I need to submit my score.

I have a close friend who graduated from the program in 2012. She said the program was grueling; however, she pulled it off and is happily working as an RN.

I looked into their NCLEX pass rates and they only have about 20 or so students taking it every year. So if they accept 120 students every year does that mean they have 100 students dropping or failing? That is my main concern if anyone has information about it

Received a letter today requesting TEAS score and just sent them in.

I've been reading up about what people are saying about the bad reviews, some say that they would start off with 90 enrolled and have 20 after the first 9 weeks. Apparently those weeks are like "bootcamp" and it weaves out those who don't make the 75% test score cut off for fundamentals, who don't think nursing is for them, or those that were not expecting such a high-intensity program. Apparently they have a rotation at Kaiser though, so thats a plus!

I'm in the same exact boat and I'm piggybacking off your post MadiCherie, to get some more info...

Your thread has been moved to the Nursing Schools / Colleges forum where the other school specific discussions are. We hope you will receive additional responses in this new location.

I'm also in the same boat. I just received the letter indicating I met the minimum requirements and now need to submit my TEAS score. I already passed it many months ago so I'll just submit it in when I get a chance. Any updates from recent graduates?????

Is this thread for Merritt adn program, if so I also received a letter this week and I submitted my teas score. The waiting game is grulling

I didn't get anything yet to send in my TEAS score. Hopefully I will soon.

Just finished with the program. PLEASE. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROGRAM. The instructors are horrible and don't give two ***** about their students. They're rude, condescending as hell, and will fail you if they didn't like you. The sim lab has been sitting there for ages and has not been finished for over 10 yrs. They don't offer pathophysio in their program and does not offer preceptorship. You're going to waste time, effort, and money being into this program. Nursing is already hard itself, and you won't succeed with the tools offered by Merritt. Also, they have 100% pass rates because they fail 2/3 of the people. They get money if a lot of people apply to their program that's why they make it so easy to in the beginning for people to get into. JUST please, tell everyone you know to stay away.

Hi MamaSang7,

If you wouldn't mind can you tell me more about this program? Maybe you can email me. Thank you! Any info is much appreciated.
