Thank you so much for sharing. Actually I live in Queens and the travel distance is almost two hours. I was wondering what does a typical schedule looks like in this program? Also if it is okay to ask how much did this total program cost to you? I am planning to apply to PACE as well which is much closer to me but the tuition cost is pretty expensive than Mercy so just really confused.

Lastly, I see that we have Summer session and also weekend classes? Do you have any idea how these session runs in comparison to regular Spring or fall term?

I am so sorry to bother you with so many questions.

Hi!
im in my final semester in the accelerated program! As far as classes go, its pretty much 3-4 days a week (including clinical) until your last two semesters. Clinical are first come first serve, but the website will crash on you every time, so I wouldn’t go into the program banking on the fact that you will get where/days you want. I ended up with Saturday clinical last semester and I am not a part of the weekend program so just know that theres a chance for sat/sun clinical! The accelerated program includes summers as does the weekend program so its pretty nonstop for 2 school years. Overall I think the teachers are like every school some good some bad, but honestly as long as you are respectful and bring your issues to them they will try to help you the best they can. No one wants to see you fail in this program.

Thank you so much for sharing. If I am not bothering you too much can you explain the sequence the term goes. Because I see that if you start from Summer term, things can get a little difficult so does that mean it is good to start on fall or Spring? Also how many semester are there in total?

Also if you don't mind sharing where did you do your clinicals in Westchester?

Thank you so much for sharing. If I am not bothering you too much and if you don't mind sharing WHERE did you do your clinical in Westchester and other location that were offered to your cohort?

Also how many days for clinical? I heard it's once a week in first two semester. How is it after first two semester?

It’s hard to say where definitely because they change the sites sometimes. But locations are at northern westchester hospital, westchester medical center, blythedale children hospital, Elizabeth seton, NYP (variety of locations), & MSK…those are the ones I can think of right now. But it can change especially with covid and some sites might not want students anymore. I’m from westchester county so I try to stay in that area with my clinicals. My 1st semester I didn’t go to a clinical site instead I had a virtual simulation, second semester they split maternity and peds so you will do one for the 1st 7 weeks and then switch to the other for the 2nd 7 weeks and you’ll only have one day of clinical. In my 3rd semester I’m doing 2 days of clinicals a week and im not sure about the rest of the semesters how they do it.

hope this helps! Good luck!

Hi! Its once a week throughout the whole program. Westchester clinicals are very hard to get into since so many people want them but they are NYP behavioral, westchester medical center, white plains hospital, NYP lawrence (kinda bronx at that point), and burke rehab. Burke and the behavioral are only for funds and psych though. Usually only 1-2 sections are offered for westchester clinicals where bronx has 4-5 sections for those hospitals

I did not knew its once a week. As I live in NYC, Bronx location will work better for me. But Thank you so much for sharing. I believe a part time job would also be manageable for this program in comparison to other short program (11 month)

Yeah. Whenever I try to ask them they always tell me that they are unsure but I wish I could provide us names of sites for previous cohort as transportation is also plays a big factor. But thank you so much for sharing. These information really helps to be prepared and relax a bit.

Good luck to you too!! ?

I felt the same when I was trying to find out the sites when I was first applying! The sites I mention though are pretty consistent but there are some sites that just say no more students and you’ll get switched last minute which is frustrating!

thank you!

Although some of these location are pretty far but once a week is not bad.As I live in NYC Queens, so I hope they could take that in consideration.

For clinicals what are the shift hours usually?

They don't take anything into consideration, it’s purely first come first serve morning of registration. I got stuck commuting an hour and a half with no mercy LOL but usually 7am-3pm is what the schedule says.

Oh whao. I will then probably have to leave around 4:30 if I happened to get in westchester locations.

7-3? Is this time for almost all the location or do they vary?

With first come, first serve , do you mean we have to register online and we get an allocated time when registration opens? (Just like how we would register for classes)
