Real simple question for the fellas (and any trainspotting female RNs)...I recently had a recruiter inform me that at their acute care facility they "follow an affirmative action hiring policy". I know affirmative action includes gender, but I didnt want to say anything as not to come of as rude. However, why are acute care facilities (some) literally blind to the ridiculous gender gap in nursing. I mean, its not like men are 40% of RNs, their 6%!

Affiirmative action is counter productive IMHO. However, I'm not sheddiing any tears for the poor hard done by white, straight, protestant, heterosexual males :zzzzz

Please, don't shed any tears for me. I don't mind actually working for what I get out of life. I feel sorry for those affected by affirmative action.

i would feel cheated if i got a job because i was a male. i worked hard in every aspect of my life to earn the thing i have accomplished, not to have them handed to me.
anyone start singing ben fold's rockin' the suburbs while reading this thread?
