I always wondered where men wound up in nursing. I dont see that many in Oncology. I am assuming men generally like ICU, ER, and M/S.

It would be nice if you would like to post your

Specialty

Years of EXP in current specialty(or post previous specialties)

Why you picked your specialty.

If you see that I am missing a big specialty dont hesitate to let me know.

Specializes in Adult Psychiatry, Correctional/Forensic Psychiatry.

Psych previously, now in corrections and have no plan on leaving anytime soon!

Left NICU off the list!

Specializes in Allergy, Asthma, & Clinical Immunology.

I've done mostly E.D., Critical Care ICU/CCU, and Hospice & Palliative Care. I'm moving up into the NP role as of next May 2019 and can't wait! I'm so over being a bedside nurse. :)

you mean pediatrics? I did well in that area even though i had no experience in peds, the other female students came to me for help......yet when the clinical eval came, all my marks were average with a few good checks. If anyone doesn't think stereotyping, harassment and discrimination doesn't exist in the nursing field for male nurses, guess again. It is routine because we ave trouble proving it because clinicals are highly subjective and that is where the abuse and violations of Constitutional rights routinely occur

Specializes in Home Health (PDN), Camp Nursing.

Which one of your constitutional rights is violated by an evaluation you don't find stellar enough?

Specializes in L&D, OBED, NICU, Lactation.

Note that this poster "tell it like it is" has only 7 posts which are all highly charged and almost completely negative. If it smells like a troll and sounds like a troll...

Specializes in Pediatrics Retired.

That must be the 28th Amendment

Two years of pediatric long term acute care. (Trachs, vents, TBIs, and occasional hospice within the specialty). Two years of ED in a level one trauma center, level two pediatric trauma, and comprehensive stroke center. (Pretty much everything besides burns.)

I ended up working as a nursing director in assisted living facility and got promoted to executive director. I just passed my Long Term Care Administrator Board this month as well. I am into administration now and happy.

5 years hospital - Emergency, psych, ICU. Shoot me if I ever return to working under fluorescent lights. Been in hospice for 5 years and can't imagine ever giving up my freedom.

ICU now, but started in Med/Surg. Probably off to the ER sooner than later.

I'm actually interested in obstetrics, but it just wouldn't work.

Specializes in Intensive Care Unit.

I've been in the ICU setting for about 2 years. Worked med/surg as a nursing assistant for years prior to becoming a nurse.
